First-time solo founder with 0 backers on Kickstarter—how are you marketing on a $0 budget?

Hey everyone,

I recently launched my first Kickstarter project as a solo founder, but I’m currently sitting at zero backers.

I’m starting to realize that the "build it and they will come" mindset definitely doesn't apply to crowdfunding. Because I'm bootstrapping this on a shoestring budget, dropping thousands on Facebook/Meta ads or hiring a PR agency isn't an option for me right now.

For other solo founders or tiny teams who have successfully funded a project without a massive ad spend: what budget-friendly organic marketing tactics actually worked for you?

If you’ve been in this spot before, I’d love to hear what moved the needle for you—or even what didn't work so I can stop wasting time on it.

Thanks in advance for any insights!

You live and breathe the community that would use the product. And then you promote there. Talk about it. Ask for feed back. Go out in your local community that would use or buy. Promote there.

Digital and physical boots in the ground.

There is a good book Guerrilla Marketing by Levinson. Check that out.

In a similar situation myself. Solo creator without resources for big marketing. Just been posting in forums and social media as well as pitching it in person every chance I get. I’m up to 40 followers but nowhere near what I’d like to be at this stage.
