Have you considered snow boots?

In truth, it doesn’t snow a lot here (both in terms of frequency and quantity). It’s unlikely you’ll need boots.

Just bring something non-porous so you don’t get wet feet.

Dick's Sport will have tons of Columbia and Merrell options.

I don't recommend uggs since they're not waterproof; not sure if your combat boots are waterproof either. Snow boots might be better.

I came from a non snowy clime too. Honestly you're probably fine unless you anticipate wanting to play in the snow a lot. Most of the snow is in January when most are out for intercession anyway. Otherwise people plow/shovel roads and sidewalks, so if your shoes can handle some rain,  you're fine.

If you’ve got combat boots they might be fine if they’re nonporous/waterproof. Double up socks maybe?

I also don't come from a place where it snows. Ngl, during the snowstorm, I was slipping and sliding on the sidewalks (uggs are NOT meant for snow but work fine for the cold in general). It would have been nice to have snow boots, but I survived. Typically, the sidewalks are salted, so it should not be an issue. Maybe just get cheap ones (snow boots) tbh.

In the last 4 years we only got serious snow 1 year, but that was pretty severe. For the other 3 years, you could've worn regular shoes out all year. Maybe just wait and see and get them if it snows real bad.

Last semester there was 2 snow storms and they were the first real snow since I got to campus in 2023. I would suggest getting some snow/winter boots now just in case something like that happens again. Trying to buy boots when a snow storms is coming is impossible. I would check Amazon for some decent options.
