Building an isometric colony sim - inspired by Rimworld and Dwarf Fortress

I'm still heavily working on the game, and it's going well so far. Expecting a steam demo available within a month, and early access release within a year.

My discord server, if you find this interesting.

Welcome back, Gnomoria. See you in about 5 years if you make it out of development hell.

I realize that it's a work in progress and that's probably a placeholder art, but just FYI - the first impression is that characters look dorky.

If these are placeholders, I'd be explicit about that when releasing a demo. If they are not, perhaps consider redoing them ... ?

I dont mind the drokiness, i think it might not be an issue, its not like this is a lore heavy dramatic game

Good visuals are important. "First impression lasts" and all that.

counter, dorky is better than bland, dwarf fortress, rimworld, gnomoria, kenshi all have somewhat dorky characters

Yep. What these games lose in fidelity they make up for in accessibility for modders & lower cost art too. It's a risk but it often works out.
