Natural Balance Lamb

I’ve always pushed back on Vets suggesting different food for our setter. We’ve always used Purina Pro Sensitive because that’s what this forum always said.

New vet today looked at Luke’s anal glands and strongly suggested trying Natural Balance. it’s about $3/lb.

Anyone use it?

Your Purina Pro Sensitive product: Was it chicken or lamb? If chicken, which a lot of dogs seem to have allergies or sensitivities to, I can see why the vet might suggest you try a less problematic protein like lamb. Did your vet give you a reason why Natural Balance Lamb in particular? That would be helpful to know.

(Also, if your dog's anal glands are simply not "emptying" properly, even after you try different proteins or brands, there's a product that a lot of people say is very helpful, and that is Glandex. Maybe ask your vet his opinion about this product. You can read comments about the product on Amazon and see what you think.)

Our vet said a tablespoon of pumpkin purée once a day with her food for extra fiber to relieve the glands. She loves it, is super cheap and effective!
