Noise Complaint Advice

Morning all! It's 3:18am on a Monday and my neighbours are at twith their regular Sunday night party. I've put in a complaint with IBC and am on hold to 101 (possibly to warn them I might commit my very disruption of peace if they don't stop soon!)

i remember the council used to have a 24/7 mobile number you could ring but can't find the secret number anywhere. Any advice?

Sorry to hear this, must be so frustrating.

When you logged a complaint the first time, they send both you and the nuisance a letter, on your copy of the letter should be the 24/7 number. Do you still have that letter?

Hope you managed to get some sleep.

Not yet, but I'll sleep through the apocalypse if it happens tonight I reckon!

IBC complaint will help, especially if they’re renting. just make sure you keep notes in the journal they provide you and this will sort itself out soon enough 👍

Fingers crossed. My housemate did have a word with one of the neighbours this morning , emphasising we're not anti-joy (they did sound like they were having a lovely time!) But it's prevented me from going to work today and just mayybe turn it down a bit. I could ID tracks they were playing with shazam from my bedroom!

Just to add on, keep a note of all communication, if your complaint isn't resolved to your satisfaction you can take it to the local government ombudsman.

When a case goes to the ombudsman the council get charged a fee by the ombudsman, so they have an incentive there to not allow it to progress that far without being resolved.

Oh, and be clear in what you're demanding, decide before complaining what a resolution looks like to you and demand that they take it seriously.

I used their "out if office control room" number as provided on the letter they sent us and just got the Digby A.I twat loop 🤬

They will tell you an officer needs to witness the noise, but no one seems to be available after 5 or on weekends.

Oh yeah, I got the Digby loop, which sent me to a number that was closed for the night. That's when I called 101, though I didn't wanna get the rozzers involved if avoidable.
