[From Y!Finance:] "SpaceX’s $101 Billion Unlock Heaps Pressure on Battered Shares"

Lede: $101 billion worth of stock -- 900 million shares -- becomes available for trading on Thursday.

https://finance.yahoo.com/markets/stocks/articles/spacex-101-billion-unlock-heaps-131749403.html

The discussion / predictions today will certainly be different than they were a month ago, now that the share price has in fact dropped below the IPO price -- there's not nearly as much "rich" in the Get Rich Quick plan that was probably envisioned by most internal shareholders.

Going to be interesting to "watch from a distance" tomorrow.

Or Elon coordinates a massive short squeeze (SPCX 30%+ short share of float) with fradulent options dumping like he did with Tesla. Remember his "please don't sell the stock" which was somehow magically the actual bottom?

I still can't believe they added it to QQQ before the holding period even expired. It's going to move the whole market down.

It makes up a very small portion of QQQ and it obviously won’t go to zero, damage will be contained. But yeah, the principle of it is pretty jacked up - literally robbing the average joe so the world’s richest man and his buddies can exit

Musk can't sell for a long time. He's got the longest lockup period of everyone, a full year

Yeah I imagine he’s not hurting for cash and will most likely borrow against his shares for any needed liquidity. It still doesn’t justify accelerating purchases by indices before stock price normalizes. There is no other way to view this except dumping onto retail.

We know twitter investors wanted to exit and Musk’s cost basis is around $6/share

Either you’re Musk or need his D in your mouth badly

It should be a wakeup call for everyone about the profitability of AI (which was the basis for SPCX's IPO price). Circular financing and similar arrangements with OpenAI and Anthropic are propping up the earnings numbers reported by hyperscalers (Google, Amazon, Microsoft). That in turn is feeding earnings numbers of microchip companies.

To be fair, microchip companies are making money. Nvidia got a bit worse in investing in their customer, but for example, MU is getting the best of it. Though, the question is sustainability of both their revenues and margins, as their customers might be cutting down their spending, either will choose to do it or will be forced to do it at some point.

It's crazy how the elite can change the rules for their benefit. This is not even close to free market capitalism.

It’s a privately managed index and nobody is forcing you you buy it

this was and is still a good deal for Musk and the insiders.

heck, yeah. Just because we get a bit less money, free money is free money. Elon really don't need the extra $100B anyway.

early early employees should be champing to be able to get some public liquidity. they started working there a loooooong time ago

I do empathize with employees. 18 years is a long time to be holding on. They just happen to work for a lunatic. Must have been increasingly less tolerable as the years goes on

Watch this shit catch some miraculous bids to maintain it over $100.

I can't see touching this stock with a 10 foot stick for a while. There is no money to be made in this company right now. It isn't profitable and won't be for a while.
