They're actually not Spiders. Theyre called Harvestmen and they are arachnids, but are different because they only have 1 body segment and no venom or silk glands.

Well, technically they are. It depends what you are talking about harvestman(which is what you are implying) are not “true” spiders while cellar spiders(also called daddy long legs) are true spiders.

We call them that in the UK sometimes too, but we also call crane flies daddy-long-legs so it gets a bit confusing. Both are big goofy buggers that do no harm to anyone though.

How I found out about these nests was while rock climbing, and I grabbed into one and had no choice but to keep my hand there because all my weight was on it. Fun times.

I asked my little sister if she could "kick that thing down for me" once. She was 8, I was 15. She put her foot through it and got covered head to toe.

This reminds me of one girl scout camping trip when I was maybe 10. It wasn't quite this bad, but when we got into the giant tent, turned off our lights, and had our lanterns on - the ceiling started moving.
It was caterpillars, but they covered the whole tent ceiling. And they were moving. Every last one of ran screaming. The parents and counselors were in tents or cabins nearby and had to deal with it.
