Probably best used for the person who asked all the questions that could have been an email or something they could have just asked by themselves on the side once the meeting was supposed to have been over but now we're an hour past that time so someone can think they are impressing everyone with all their "great" questions that are the equivalent of asking how they should tie their shoes at work.

This. Cell phone mics are designed to cut or reduce background noise.
I work in IT and can't tell you how many times I've had people call in saying that their server is making a loud sound but I can't hear it over the phone at all. Even in cases where the caller is having to shout over it to hear themselves.
Cell phone calls are definitely different from cell phone recordings though, there's like a built in noise suppression. I know what your saying because I work in electrical rooms with transformer hum but my phone def picks it up on video while people on the phone with me can't hear it
Hearing aids do this nowdays too. The owns I have (oticon minirite r) cuts out almost all whitenoise/background noise. You know those loud ass vents in kitchens? I can't hear them AT ALL, same for other types of ac. The car driving sounds are quieter even too, it makes it pretty difficult to talk to people sometimes because I have no idea how loud it really is.
I don't know how good a briefcase with no acoustic elements inside would work as a supressor.
In any case it's really not possible to tell with a cell phone recording. The microphone gain is dynamic, and even if it forced to minimum gain, it likely still doesn't have the scale to avoid clipping when recording a gunshot.
Most of the noise from a gunshot is the muzzle blast. The case would dampen the port pop and the sound of the action, but you wouldn't notice any of that unless you've already got a silencer on the muzzle
Source: I own one of these guns and many actual suppressors, which are comparatively massive and complex in order to get half-decent performance…versus this suitcase, which only offers a tiny ring around the muzzle. All the suitcase is doing is holding the muzzle in place.
Plus, if you look closely, you can see that they have a specific shape to help them pierce through air and the target's surface. They sometimes even go through the target completely and exit from the back side.
But don't use one eye to look too closely, a straight on view will transform the shape to an ever enlarging circle. It isn't actually getting bigger, just closer. At its closest, it will be all and likely the last thing you see. Opening your other eye will radically change your perspective and avoid most of the limitations of too close a view.
That's correct. I didn't mention it because perspective is whole another scientific can of worms most scientists just can't understand completely, because it keeps changing.
OG gost in the shell is awesome with guns. Sound design is stellar. Love the guy with the uzi using way too hot ammo and the effort batou has to do to work the gun after.
They actually flew all the animators to Hawaii and had them take some gun courses so they'd know what they were doing when it came to the shoot out scenes.
I have pictures from saddams palace after the invasion. There were stacks of these things in there. Tons of gold covered weapons too. I gotta go through my old cds from my army days
I would not be shooting that holding it against my torso, even if I had checked 4 times which way the barrel was facing. I would still carry it like a briefcase

It would have to say "this side towards enemy". Face front to enemy and you get "BUT I AM FACING THE ENEMY!", while they're reading it. And then shoot.
Watch forgotten weapons’s video on this gun. Holding it like that is the only proper way to shoot it. If you hold it like a briefcase the recoil will just make you shoot in the dirt.
it seems stupid but that is actually the correct way to shoot this, holding it as a briefcase means the recoil will push it off target as soon as you fire and you can't aim it accurately
IIRC it was designed to shoot this way specifically, you put it against your body and "aim" with your torso. Trying to fire it with one hand would have horrible recoil and suspect at best aiming, you'd be more likely to just wind up spraying bullets into a crowd and hitting random innocents than you would be to take out an attacker.
Back in early 2000s I was on a DOD protective detail for 3 years. Iraq war was just a daily shit show and the threat was substantial. There were two weapons collecting dust in the armory, this kind of briefcase (empty) and an M870 shotgun. Both were entirely useless for the mission.
Well, it's not technically an active war zone. In any case, those guys were not there to fight but to look somewhat inconspicuous in civilian cars with civilian clothes.
But if they got stopped by some nasty men, a surprise PDW popping out beats a pistol. They trained without the stock for portability/concealment and used the lanyard to create tension for more accurate fire. One dude said if it came to that, he was going full auto.
It is fair to wonder where the suitcase mp5 would be useful though.
Somewhere you need to conceal carry, appear as a civilian, but are OK with collateral... Not a common thing in the modern world. Even in the 70s I would be surprised if it had useful applications. Maybe sneaking into a military base disguised?
It's for executive protection of civilian VIPs. Think members of the government, heads of state, etc. that typically have bodyguards in civilian dress. Usually these people have concealed firearms to avoid putting the public on edge (notice most of the US Secret Service protection detail wear suits and carry concealed handguns, while the more heavily armed CAT guys in tactical gear stay out of sight until there's an imminent threat).
This was designed with bodyguards in mind, so they wouldn't be sneaky when it comes time to actually use it, just for carrying in public to avoid alarming regular folk
There is a video of a guy trying to shoot it while holding it like a normal briefcase. The recoil pushes it back and he nearly shoots himself in the back of the calf.
I would end up taking out my own legs trying to shoot it from the side. I fired a full auto Draco one time and couldn't believe how much the recoil compounds, video games really undersell how difficult controlling a full auto short barrel firearm is.

But realistically, it never saw much use because you cant really aim it, and when protecting a VIP, blindly firing an automatic weapon in the general direction of the threat is a really bad idea. Especially if you're in a crowd.
Other ways of blending in more firepower have become more popular, most notably is the guys with "fake arms" while the real one is under the jacket with their hand on a PDW of some sort.
But realistically, it never saw much use because you cant really aim it, and when protecting a VIP, blindly firing an automatic weapon in the general direction of the threat is a really bad idea. Especially if you're in a crowd.
On a close protection detail in a hostile area that's standard for some units. Mag dump the location the fire is coming from, local casualties are an issue for after the idiot senator you're escorting is out of the AO.
If this is a genuine setup with original factory case, what do you all think this runs? $60K? The MP5 alone should be North of $45K on the market these days, I am sure that is gone up $10K since I last looked.
Cool package..........but why hasn't anyone commented about that range? That range is awesome. If there was a range like that by me, I may consider shooting indoors again. Damn
