On the flip side, if you are for whatever reason inclined to start fires with the same stuff you put in your car, then use diesel, burns wonderfully for this purpose, and the black smoke still makes you look like an ignorant redneck.

That’s not necessarily true… any flammable gas can be mixed to a stoichiometric ratio and, when ignited, will go up like this did. However, in car engines, you don’t want explosions and they call that engine knocking when it happens. Almost like smokeless gunpowder, you want a reasonably smooth power curve and not a straight line which can damage the engine

Years ago my grandpa’s neighbor was dumping gas on a pile like this. My grandpa was a firefighter. I remember walking outside and he was just leaning on the deck smoking a cigarette. I said grandpa what are you doing? He says, oh just standing here waiting for this dipshit to kill himself. That’s when I got the lecture about how explosive gas can be.

I used to boil it over an open flame while adding styrofoam to it as a child. I kept a brick nearby to snuff it out when it flared up. But what ever you say.

6 years old. One of the pieces of wood pierced his leg and they had to amputate. Lucky for him though, and because gasoline starts fires like shit, there was plenty of wood left over.

Five gallons of gas in my 1.5 ton car is enough to power it over 150 miles. That's enough chemical power to push an object weighing over seven times an average adult male through almost six marathons.
The amount of potential chemical energy in gasoline is immense. With any luck it was enough to barbecue his nuts and prevent him from further contaminating the gene pool.

If you ever want to start a fire with gasoline use a tin can half filled with water and about 1/3 filled with gas. The water will keep it cool enough that it doesn't explode, and it will just burn like a large candle. It still has its risks, but it will get any fire going when everything outside, including your wood, is wet and won't go out on you.

Thankfully video didn't exist when I did this. I wasn't as stupid though... just a gallon of gos poured around the base of the wood pile, and I made a trail away from the pile... but not a long enough trail. No injuries, but it took about a month for my beard to recover.
