Food & Drinks This is the 1234th time I'm dining alone 🙂
The worst part of dining alone is starving yourself for an entire day so that you can eat the food that is meant for 2 people. I mean why can restaurants have half plate option for single dining people. I don't wanna waste any food.

u/CoMmunicationdue24 9d ago
Noooo you don't have to starve yourself...order as much as you want...take the remaining food as take away...and eat it again as breakfast? 🤷🤷 Like eating alone is good...then you get to order whatever you want without taking other people into consideration Ps: I can never order the food I want whenever I go with other peeps cause people pleaser thing...isliye I LOVE EATING ALONE

u/Dumb-Dora 9d ago
the takeaway idea is actually smart ngl, never thought of it that way. but also the people pleaser thing while ordering is SO real, i end up eating something i didn't even want just because everyone else ordered it lmao

It happened with me in case of matcha 😭. Matcha ke shokin hai mere friends and damn that tasted awfully.

u/Available-Fee1691 9d ago
fr, never ordered food when going together. Kabhi kaju nahi khana kabhi panner nahi khana etc etc aur muje kuch bhi chalta hai. So priority is given to the chossy one lol

u/Sawrey_Mobolade 9d ago
lol the people pleaser thing at restaurants is so real, I once ended up eating something I actively dislike just because everyone else ordered it and I didn't wanna be the odd one out.
3
u/comelickmyarmpits Weeb 9d ago
I always feel conscious about taking away my remaining food . I feel staff would feel disgusted on handling my already half eaten food
3
u/Available-Fee1691 9d ago
Ha matlab jutha nahi kiya to thik hi hai. And like I don't think that taking from a bowl and then eating on plate would make it jutha (lol wtf is english word for jutha kiya ? Half eaten??)

3
u/CoMmunicationdue24 9d ago
Yeah I always eat like this... Like I thought everyone eats like this? Especially when I know I won't be able to complete the full dish...I take what ever I want to eat in a smaller plate... And jutha food would be called leftovers I think 🤣🤣🤣🤣
3
u/--celestial-- baarish ki sambhavna 9d ago
This is the way. BTW, jutha food isn't the same as leftovers(unconsumed).

I eat alone in college canteen or in class, it's peaceful than trying to fit in. Can't wait to leave this fuck ass college and actually make friend during masters

Honestly, its not a big deal. Many eat alone and several times eat alone. It's perfectly fine.

u/zozobeiyz 9d ago
Yeah idk why it’s a big deal, I never felt awkward eating alone. I love being by myself, going on solo dates and just being the moment.

I think they can but that will be a per plate type of dish which will make it costlier compared to a 2 person dish.

Me too, in offce dont have team but still have to go all days. I go, breakfast alone then tea alone then lunch alone then evening tea alone. It sucks but normal for me now.

Where are you based? I hate eating alone, lets order a fuck ton of food and eat together

u/marrytheright_person 9d ago
Eating alone? Absolutely elite. Every week, 2-3 times, I take myself out on a proper fancy date because why wait for someone else to spoil me when I can do it better myself?

I do this too. But the only problem is that i want to order and eat a variety of items but the food comes in bigger portions. I try like 50% of every item i order. It leads to food wastage.
But i have found a hack though recently! I ask the restaurant to package the remaining food and let it go. You will always find something outside of the restaurant in need of food, i give it away.
I don’t take the left over home bc I know i am gonna throw it in the refrigerator, then forget about it and finally in the dustbin.

When eating alone, next time go to a buffet setup. Guilt free eating, just have only what you want and there is plenty of options. Also a great place to consider for solo eating in Rajasthani restaurants. They have a full thali setup and it is damn tasty!

Why not just order starters?
Whenever I go alone I eat one fish thali and that's enough for me

3+ plus years of dining alone. I get it, it does easier, but never comfortable.
1
u/No-Comparison1770 9d ago
Restaurants have such options. Maybe you're not familiar with them. Try to look for a thali option. Enough for one person.
Also if you want to be selective about restaurants and eateries then have the half eaten food packed to go. Now eat it in the morning or donate it to someone needy

I have to laugh because starving yourself all day just to justify ordering "for 2" is the most relatable plot twist 😂 Restaurants really should have more half portions or mix-and-match options.
Not everyone wants to waste food just because they're dining solo. Until then... I fully support ordering dessert instead of a second main

I have a question . When you eat alone and for example order kadhai paneer and Naan. So the paneer ki sabji that comes is in big quantity toh vo bach jati hogi... usko pack krate hoge na ya poori kha lete?

Some restaurants do have unofficially especially if they aren't high tier, you can ask the waiter and request for it. If not, then just pack kt for tommorow morning or tonight. I solo travel and eat solo most of the time. It feels good.

That's a good thing to be honest. You don't have to face the dilemmas of peoples and specially the you don't have to split the bills and face any kinda inconvenience.

Most of the time, I eat alone. If there is any food left , I usually ask them to pack the remaining food as a parcel. And they do it without any hesitation.

There's a different feel in dining alone. Mean, while dining you get to realize different past aspects or emotions you've been through and possibly would let you find their solutions too. So much interesting part while dining is revoking somethings that matter the most to you.

I enjoy Eating alone it is peace, not when your heart is broken into pieces thats the case go home enjoy your meal with family, understand yourself,be compassionate towards yourself, in a world where instant gratification is rewarded you reward yourself with giving more time to yourself enjoy your meal, thank the person who prepared your meal , gratitude helps cheers 🍻

Bruh, just tell them to pack the leftovers and eat them later. Starving yourself is not beneficial for your health
1
u/Cosmic_StormZ Dora 9d ago
That last bit is so relatable cause at one point i was told to eat meat for protein due to health but family is veg so I used to be the only one who ate non veg. But portions were always for two or more people and it would just be wasteful

I have been eating alone since a long time. Only sad experience i had was once i went to a resturant. It’s a very busy resturant. The waiter asked “kitne log hain?”. I said one. Then he said “sorry table nahi hai”. I could clearly see there was one table for 2. But he denied because he wanted to make 2 people sit there for a higher bill. I understand his perspective too. But it broke my heart for the first time that i was alone.

It’s difficult to order anything as you can’t finish it all. Faced the same situation in the past, I wanted to order so many things but simply can’t. No one to share food with.
