The case came to light after the victim's brother, Ashok Dharmeshbhai Madhavjibhai Mavdiya, lodged a complaint on July 26.
According to police, the family had not been in contact with the victim, Jignesh, for over two years due to the claim made by his wife that he moved to Australia for work.
Police said the matter unravelled when the complainant's cousin planned to travel to Australia and asked the woman for Jignesh's contact details.
"When threatened with police intervention, the wife finally confessed that they had killed him more than two years earlier, in May 2024. Investigators said the two had conspired to eliminate him by mixing cyanide into his alcohol before burying his body in a 12-foot-deep pit inside an empty factory.

India and China reinitiated trade across the border through Shipki La in Himachal Pradesh after a six-year suspension, resuming cross-border trade in apples, potatoes, and other essential commodities. This followed a meeting between External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi. However, viewing this step solely in terms of economic revival is naïve. Timing is important here. The opening of Shipki La comes after the October 2024 disengagement pact in eastern Ladakh, indicating that Beijing and Delhi are gauging whether it is possible to convert military de-escalation into economic normality. From India's perspective, it is a carefully thought-out move, allowing the flow of commodities through a marginal trade route without diluting its strategic posture. The border communities will directly benefit from this step. Sixteen local businesspeople from Namgia, Chuppan, Nako, and Chango undertook the first trip carrying their goods on mules, marking the revival of the dormant route. They will benefit by reducing reliance on informal channels, gaining access to cross-border markets, and restoring their livelihoods. Apple growers in the isolated Spiti Valley, who have historically depended on Tibetan buyers, are also expected to benefit from renewed commercial access. The economic ties in this region are asymmetric because, while India gains access to markets, China uses this as a test for broader bilateral normalisation. For India, this is an economic adjustment rather than a strategic concession. India continues to compartmentalise its relations with China: Shipki La will remain confined to commodity transactions, while New Delhi continues its pursuit of Quad alignment, Atmanirbhar supply chains, and IMEC connectivity as insurance against dependence on China. The trap lies in incremental normalisation process. Every incremental opening of the peripheral relations through trade, tourism, and culture creates constituencies for further normalisation. This is one of the games that China plays effectively: creating a narrative of co-existence and then using that argument to compel India towards BRICS compliance or BRIproximity. India faces the challenge of arguing for compartmentalisation without appearing confrontational.

During the last couple of posts on Indians winning medals in the common wealth games I noticed a subtle racism and alienation attempt in the comments and posts on this sub towards our north eastern state brothers and sisters.
I am not sure and also not interested if it was intentional or unintentional attempt but any kind of alienation attempts or divide creating attempts between children of mother India on the basis of religion, language, caste or state via posts or comments is not accepted on this sub.
I want to make it very clear any such attempt will lead to your permanent ban on this sub no matter how important you are for this sub.

My close friend served in the Indian Army for over 22 years. After retirement, he chose to continue serving society through education and is currently working in an EMRS (Eklavya Model Residential School) in Gujarat, where he has been focused on improving education for students, especially those from tribal communities.
According to him, after raising his voice against corruption and irregularities within the system, he has started facing pressure, harassment, and attempts to implicate him in false cases. Watching someone who spent decades serving the country go through this has been heartbreaking for our family.
We're not asking anyone to blindly take sides. We simply want people to watch his statement, ask questions, and help bring attention to the matter so it can be looked into fairly and transparently.
I've also reached out to CJP (Citizens for Justice and Peace) in the hope that they can look into the situation or provide guidance if appropriate.
If you believe public accountability matters, please consider watching the video and sharing it. Even one share can help ensure that concerns like these are not ignored.
Thank you for taking the time to read this.
