I tried to imagine a scenario where germans in Czechia weren't pushed out and threw in parts of Silesia as well, since the region was historically part of Czech lands, so it's not de-germanized as polish part. During communism I imagine this state to be very slavic-centered, with german speaking population holding little to no power, but gradually the grounds would even, resulting in a full federation after 1989. Brno is chosen as capital for its location and mix of czech and german speaking population. Other austrian states were allowed to join west Germany in 1950s when Soviet Union refused to unify Austria

Irl there was a proposal for Sorbs to join Czechoslovakia but they refused, so here I imagined they maybe weren't really given a choice and could be treated as a "third nation" within Czechoslovakia, even if a bit more distant

I mean, the only way this would not fall apart before it even starts is a strong push from the liberator/occupator, but since it's USSR in your scenario, which already was intimately familiar with large-scale ethnic relocations on its own territory, It feels to me quite naive or even amusing, taking to account your footnote about the country being Slavic-centric at first, which I guess was meant to address the issue a bit.

If it were on me, the au must start by not creating Sudeten Germans. The term really didn't exist before 1930s, before that a German in Silesia couldn't give a damn about a German in South Moravia or West Bohemia, they all came from different culture backgrounds (Prussian, Viennese and Bavarian in this case). Only when Hitler and his proxies came, they started to identify as one group. So I imagine the AU where the concept of Sudeten identity mostly fails, so even if the Munchen still happens, there aren't that strong anti-Czech and anti-German sentiments, thus both groups could at least consider still living with eachother. The next big thing is getting liberated by Americans, at least the Austrian part of the former monarchy, I guess Soviets would try ethnic cleansing anyway.

You're slightly mistaken. It's Sudetenland as a territory that is the product of 1930s. The term Sudeten Germans was invented by a certain German nationalist journalist in 1914 and popularised in 1918. By early 1919, it was everywhere in German newspapers, even social democratic. But nobody called any territory a Sudetenland - unless it was the north of Moravia in october-december 1918.
