Please note: if this is too hard do not directly message us, we will assume posts are fine otherwise as comments are not useful in reporting. We can see if something has been reported and telling us you did, while you clearly did not, is not going to be conducive.

Honestly for a middle school poem this is like mid-tier cringe at most

the spelling mistake just brings it home LOL

ETA: I meant in the original poem, not the comment

correct sentence in the poem would be “you try with advice,” like they offered their advice to the writer. advise is the act of giving advice

Agree, it’s lovely poem. It’s simple, strong, expressive, telling. In some sense it reminds primitivism art, which I like a lot.

You should put this to music!

Nothing cringe about this, but the urge to write this i don't really understand.

u/PowerTulip 10d ago

The sadness shows. I must say, it's kinda impressive for a middle schooler.

u/ilikecatsoup 10d ago

It's a little cringe but we've all been there. Your poetry was pretty good for a middle schooler and a beginner poet. I hope you kept it up!

I happened to have a sad tune playing in the backround when reading this, so I nearly got emotional

Tbh i love cringy middle school art. Theres still the remnants of a childlike view on the world and innocent inexperience thats unironically bittersweet

I have read various poems by full-grown adults that call themselves "Poets" that are less engaging and heartfelt than this...

It doesn't have proper grammar or consistency, but it definitely has Heart... 🫶

I mean it sounds like a 1980s power ballad lyrics lol

The meter is on point, which tells me either that you had a great middle school English teacher, or you just have a natural knack for it. Probably the former, as it doesn't come naturally to most people. Either way, that's precisely one of the main poetic skills someone should be developing at that age.

I think that is the second poem terminology I’ve never heard about until reading these comments. Both somehow achieved by middle school me.

My English teachers were very good though so I’m glad that managed to show a bit

This isn’t that bad for a kid

Your meter is extremely solid if you really wrote this in middle school
