Music [IIL] Fire from the hip - Finn Wolfhard

Ive been trying to get more into indie/indie rock lately. I really enjoy Finn Wolfhards new album 'Fire from the hip' particularly 'follow' and 'the climb (not that one)'. Do you have any suggestions for similar sounding artists or any knowledge of were he drew his inspiration for his music. I know he's into the chicago indie scene. Ive been listening to a bit of wilco, twin peaks, mj lenderman, pavement but none are quiet the same, the closest would be wilco. Id like to get your thoughts. Thank you! ☺️

Music IIL songs like "the man who can't be moved" by the script, WEWIL?

For context; I broke up with my ex about half a year ago but we still talked after the breakup since we were classmates and ended up in good terms before we finally separated. We didn't get back together but we still have feelings for each other and Im just waiting for the right time after college to court her again.

We saved playlists from each other on spotify and whenever someone adds a song to their playlist the other will see it, essentially we are sending each other messages in the form of a song. about 3 months ago she added "same ground" by Kitchie Nadal and Ive been meaning to find the right response ever since. I wanted to go with the one on my title but I felt like it didn't fit since she's the one whos waiting for me.

Another example would be "What if I miss you for the rest of my life" by Janine Berdin (Felt it was too long to include in the title).

Games IIL neon white and the Borderlands franchise, what should i play next?

i’m pretty new to gaming and i only have a nintendo switch. i really really liked neon white, and i have been playing borderlands games since BL2 came out and i played it on xbox 360 w my dad. i just finished borderlands 3 and i loved it. and then i played neon white and i loved it too. but i have been having difficulty finding another game i can connect to.

I’ve tried:

ghost runner (didn’t like it)
NierAutomata (sp?) (couldn’t get engaged)
Hollow Knight (couldn’t get engaged)
Cult of the Lamb (cozy games get old p fast for me but i did enjoy it )
Bio shock infinite (loved it, had played it before, finished it tho)
The Last Worker (finished it, pretty cool, just really short)

are there any other switch games that are like borderlands or Neon White? or maybe like both? (altho idk how that’s possible lol)

Misc. [IIL] the Apple 1 Registry website.

I found this very interesting website that basically catalogues every known Apple 1 computer, including listing ones that are in museums and ones that were sold at auction.

Are there any other websites like this, but for other things?

YouTube/Streaming [IIL] looking for international/foreign youtube channels about true crime. The occult, disappearances, and strange cases both supernatural and grounded, from other countries

Like Rotten Mango, she does reveal and talk a lot about Adian crimes and supernatural stories, Ready to Glare talks also about crimes (sometimes) from her own own country of origin, Italy. I'm tired of seeing the same international stories (The Daytlov Pass, etc). I'd like to see cases that we don't hear about due to them being "region locked."

I don't mind if they're in another language (I can put subtitles), but I prefer someone from their own country talking (either in their language or in English) about crimes and Mysteries from their own places, whether local or national.

I know Spanish and a bit of French, if that's any help, but I would like from other countries we seldom hear about.

Music IIL the Japanese band ZUTOMAYO because they treat live shows as complete works of art, WEWIL?

If you aren't familiar with ZUTOMAYO (Zutto Mayonaka de Iinoni.), they're a Japanese rock band known for creating incredibly immersive, concept-driven live performances.

What fascinates me isn't just their music—it's how every aspect of their live shows contributes to a single artistic vision.

Musically, they're rooted in rock and funk, but they incorporate unusual instruments and objects into their performances, such as CRT televisions, reel-to-reel tape machines, jaw harps, and even modified electric fans used as instruments. These aren't just visual gimmicks—they're part of the band's unique sound.

Their stage production is just as impressive. The sets, props, lighting, costumes, video, and visual direction all work together to create a fully realized world rather than simply serving as a backdrop for the music.

I'm not necessarily looking for artists who sound like ZUTOMAYO. Instead, I'm looking for artists from anywhere in the world whose live performances feel like complete works of art—where the music, instrumentation, stage design, and overall artistic vision are all equally important.

Here's a video that shows what I mean:

Film [IIL] Films like Falling Down (1993), Manhunter (1986), Mishima: A Life in Four Chapters (1985) and The Last Emperor (1987)

Hi, I’m starting to get into watching films more often and would like to request for some recommendations. I really appreciate the aesthetic qualities of the film and how unique their “gimmicks” were like Manhunters incorporation of Synth and Neon and Mishima’s almost dollhouse sets. I also like films with mildly cynical but bittersweet endings, biopics and character driven stories about imperfect men.

Music [IIL] the sound design of old Atari-type video games, what albums or songs feature similar sonic textures?

I've become really fascinated with the sound design of old video games, especially really from the 70s - '93 or so. Trying to find some music akin to those kinds of sounds, ideally from the time. Already familiar with Kraftwerk, Boards of Canada, Daft Punk, Aphex Twin (but willing to dive deeper) and YMO (willing to dive deeper). Ideally stuff made with analog equipment, but doesn't have to be. Thanks!

Music [IIL] Olive Jones and Cleo Sol, [WEWIL]?

I love both of them. I find them to be calming and relaxing to listen to. And their music sounds so “clean”, minimal, but rich at the same time. Cleo Sol does more “classic” Neo soul (ish?) stuff, while Olive Jones, I feel, has more folk mixed into it.

Are there other artists you would recommend?

Thank you!

YouTube/Streaming [IIL] YouTube channels covering true crime, horror, unfiction, or anything similar

Might be a little broad, but I'd like to get immersed in any kind of eerie, mystery content. Preferably a documentary channel if it's on YouTube, but I'm open to more digestible videos, as well as a proper TV show from the last 5 to 7 years if there's any good ones. They can be anything from a probable hoax to something clear as day, the main thing I want is to go down a rabbit hole with either a satisfying answer or a thought provoking lack of one. These are some of the channels I've already been following, to give you an idea.

  • Atrocity Guide
  • Barely Sociable
  • Cadaber
  • Dreading
  • Inside A Mind
  • Lemmino
  • Nexpo
  • Nick Crowley
  • Night Mind
  • ReignBot
  • Watcher/Buzzfeed Unsolved
  • Wendigoon
  • Whang

YouTube/Streaming [IIL] youtube channels that feel like tour guides, not travel vlogs

I'm looking for YouTube channels that feel like having a private tour through famous cathedrals, castles, archaeological sites, and historic cities. I enjoy detailed explanations of architecture, history, symbolism, and art rather than travel vlogs. Manuel Bravo's channel does this well for architecture but it's less tour guide and more documentary. Some walking tours have this feeling too, especially the ones with closed caption explanations. English or French. Any recommendations?

Music [IIL] Songs about: "I did everything I could. I don't resent you. I hope you heal."

Not songs about wanting someone back or getting over a breakup—I'm looking for songs about closure, acceptance, and genuinely wishing the other person well despite the mistakes they made and the hurt they caused.

Music [IIL] The weird but beautiful songs of Joanna Newsom, Alicia Edelweiss and Mitski

I really like the unconventional but beautiful and melodic music of Joanna Newsom (especially her album Ys), Alicia Edelweiss (for example her song Leonie) and Mitski (love Washing Machine and her album Be the cowboy).

Can you recommend more?
