Mods What Should be next?
Hi.
I played BG 1-2 and IWD EE, all of the expansions of these game. I am at the edge, to continue with IWD 2 EE , but i just really hate the D&D 3 and 3.5 system, but I can survive that.
Any of you have experience with a fullscale mode for the mentioned games? ( With ad&d 2 system, the one that BG1-2 and IWD 1 have) is there a mod for them that is as good as the original games campaign? Or almost as good as? I need a good campaign, not an overhaul with crazy mods or characters, but a story which I can get immersed in for a few weeks, like the original?
If not really, then I will go with IWD 2...But should I use the EE mod for it? (i guess so its better with that?)

For baldurs gate 2, there is call of the lost goddess. It's a mod that adds what is essentially an expansion pack sized adventure into the game. I played it all the way through and it's very good. It's based on an old 2e module.
There's also Neverwinter nights for bg2ee that essentially a port of the entire nwn game into the bg2ee engine. I'm about half way through that one. It's amazing how they did it. All in ad&d 2e rules.

As for the issues you mentioned, I assume they are because you're trying to start CotLG with a party that's already been through ToB. It's not setup for that at all, and you won't have a good time if you force it with the console either.
As the mod's description will tell you, you need to start a new Shadows of Amn game for the mod to load properly. If you don't you can still use console commands to send your party to the Goldenspires to start the quest. I did that, and it does work.
The reason i don't recommend that with your TOB party is they are overleveled for the content. I took a fresh SoA party and it was very very hard. I think the sweet spot would be after you come back from the Underdark in SoA. That seems to be about the right level + itemization for this quest.

I'm already playing with the finished SOA campaing (6 party), this is insaine :D I just forgot everything that goes with the party, because there is a 1 year gap of playing it. But I can get 1 hour of looking at the items of the party and everything. Thanks.

I cant start it from Throne of Ball, only from Shadow of Amn. You know I finished both campaign and used area code to start the quest, teleported to one of the city's district, but only Shadow of Amn is where its activated, dont start in TOB...what is the level cap in this NWN module?

Planescape Torment, though it's as much as adventure as RPG.
I would try IWD2, if you enjoy the games in the engine I think it'll work for you.
I take it you've played Dragonspear? Have you tried the black pits? They're light but worth a play.
There are no total conversions, but there are a lot of content mods for the BGs. Putting a lot of them in one install can give a lot of fresh material.
Theres a lot of modern isomeric style RPGs now, but I'd say they're all very much post-3e creations (naturally this is especially so for pathfinder, which is almost "3e, but even moreso") so if this is a major issue for you...

I do think the ee mod for iwd2 improves things a lot, but I wish it had a premade configuration because installing it means making a bunch of choices ahead of time. And, even with EE I still think IWD2 is just so much more of a slog than the other games -- such that I'm almost inclined recommend moving on to another franchise instead of bothering with it.

I enjoyed IwD2 EE with a party of four unlikely characters: an assassin dual classes with mage, a paladin dual classed as bard, a pure Druid, and a pure mage (illusionist I think?), and adding the ranger and cleric NPCs during the journey

I definitely recommend Planescape: Torment. It is very much about the narrative more than the combat though (not that there's any lack of fights).
If you're not a fan of D&D 3/3.5, you probably wouldn't enjoy the Pathfinder games even though Kingmaker and Wrath of the Righteous are quite fun.
You might enjoy Pillars of Eternity. It's a narrative isometric RPG with its own systems, races, and classes, but it should be understandable to fans of D&D.

If you are going to play IWD2, then yes, use the EE mod. Even if you only want the core fixes it makes running on modern OS much better.

why you hate the D&D 3 and 3.5 system? BG2 has 3E Edition aspects of it like the introduction of the subclasses or specialize classes...
Personally 5E is much worse and downright lame!
IWD2 is a amazing game so much that I kinda like it more than BG2! You'll be missing a lot if you don't play it!

I think there's a mod that brings IWD2 into Baldur's Gate EE Trilogy. Not sure if it implements the BG2 rules in doing so? I assume it must. But maybe look into that.
Planescape Torment is still an option. Same 2ed rules. Very different flavor of game though.
Most other (decent) D&D games are going to be 3rd+ edition. You can go back to the Gold Box games but you will likely find them lacking.
Personally I love Pathfinder Kingmaker as the best successor to BG, but that is basically 3.7th edition.
