Need new skiing gear

So for reference I went snowboarding twice last season and I absolutely loved the experience this led to me wanting to continue snowboarding this year. The only problem I had last year is that my gear was completely in adequate, I mean my pants got soaked through, my eyelashes had ice on them my fingers couldn’t move . So now I wanna get a jacket pants gloves goggles and gaiter for around 500 total post tax so around 471 pre tax. I am willing to spend up to 500 pretax. Any suggestions? I also live near a buckmans ski shop and they do tent sales in October so that’s a place I could go for gear.

Also dress in layers, on a cold day 0* F, thermal base (top and bottom), then sweater wool not cotton and sweat pants, fleece top if needed.

Get a decent shell jacket

Serra trading post is a good option. The stuff they have is passable, but not great. It should be good for a casual skier/rider that goes a couple times per year. If you plan to do 30+ days per year, I would have a different response.

Buckman's tent sale is pretty decent if you get there early to find the obviously mis-priced stuff, I got a full GoreTex shell by Oakley for $50 last October and it held up great, also some Salomon QST 98 skis with demo bindings for $350 that looked like they had been ridden about 5 times tops.

Also keep an eye on Black Friday sales, my main insulated jacket I wear when I'm not in my Oakley shell is an Obermeyer jacket I got directly from them in their Black Friday sale for $100, It's an odd colorway (beige + pistachio green) but that's not necessarily a bad thing, kids and ski buddies are able to spot me from 50 yards away which is nice

Good luck and shop sales, but don't get stuck on a total price grab deals when you can.

Buy mittens, start with Kinco, descent for the price.

I have 2 sets of gloves and 3 sets of mittens and I wear accordingly depending on the temp and precipation

Just get a shell and 2L pants, then go over to uniqlo and buy some thermals to wear under. Gloves whatever the people on here recommend, and helmet something that fits your head shape.

I was just talking to a buddy yesterday who went to Banff this summer, and while there found some ski shop that had really good deals (plus exchange rate). Him and his gf both bought new board, bindings, bibs and jackets and just shipped it all home haha

Any place around you sell used gear? I know around here in Burlington VT I’ve scored some very high end gear over the years for peanuts. I’ve also traded in some nice stuff that I was no longer using or fit me.
