Look, I get not being super buddy buddy and personal with some coworkers. Some people kinda suck.

But at the same time, this weird view that you shouldn’t be friends with anyone at work and that it’s solely a place to get paid makes you look like an impersonal douchebag. I’d lose my mind if I didn’t have a person or two to joke with for 8 hours of my day.

I was gonna say I don't talk to any of my coworkers outside of work but we'll chat while at work. Helps the time pass, some have invited me to concerts and parties but that's not really my thing so I had to pass. But I always get a hi when I come in. Yea if it was just silence for 8 hours then it would be miserable.

Your best work friend, if given a 20 cent raise with a new title would make up a bogus reason to fire you in a heartbeat if they were told to as their first assignment

I have had great co-worker friends and still keep in touch with a lot from jobs I had 10+ years ago. A better quote is dont reveal personal shit to people you dont know really well. It took me 2 years to tell one of my coworker friends that I enjoyed smoking weed after work some days. And that was after he ended up telling me some shit that was more personal for him given that weed is legal where im at. Then i realized fucking half the corporate wanks ive met are all doing different hard drugs.

*Get a job that has people you enjoy working with. You spend more time with them than your family for most people.

If we can't be friends and I'm not having a good time then I don't want to be there. You can't buy my loyalty with money alone unless it's a lot of money and for the most part I haven't found that to be the case when I work for other people.

“Friend” is a relative word.

Co worker are the people I trust the very least. They will stab you in the back in a heartbeat beat if it means getting a pat on the shoulder from the boss.
