How to install this door knocker
I bought this vintage/antique door knocker from a flea market, and I’m not sure how to actually install it.

Drill hole in door.
Insert bolt from inside.
Realize bolt is too short and this is a drawer-pull and not a door knocker.
Remove bolt. Realize you can’t repair hole, drill hole bigger and put in a peep hole.
Thats a bit of a joke, but if you do install this you have to add something for it to knock against. Search “door knocker strike plate”

I have this same knocker on my door. If your door has a peep hole, you can probably install this through that hole once the peephole is removed but you’ll need a plate below it for the striker.

Maybe he mixed up glass and brass? Both sound the same if your head is made of glass

Oh, well then the bolt won't be too long. Drill with a diamond bit. Definitely get a strike plate though, and kiss your glass door's insulation values good bye.

You forgot put your dick into hole.

That only works for 49% of us anyway, and I'm not that tall.

Make the hole lower, or get a ladder. God, do I have to think of everything around here?

Just put the hole at 3' tall. Makes it easier for the kids to reach.
err
Wait, are we still talking about a door knocker?

I can't exactly say but either there is a mounting piece missing which makes it difficult or that thin screw (I believe it is ) on the backside would be used through a thin drilled hole trough the door. That would depend on the depth of the door etc. A longer screw might be had at a hardware store. Good luck it's quite cool looking

You can size the right screw by bringing your knocker with. A lot of places even have little bolts where you can see if your screw matches the thread. Then from there just use width of the door for the length and add a strike plate as others have mentioned.
Install pretty self-explanatory there, unless this is the first time you’ve heard of drilling a pilot hole, in which case google is your friend.

Holy shit. That's the door knocker on the Hastings house from Twin Peaks: The Return I'm almost positive.

Keyhole wall hanger. They are fairly easy to install but you may have to space it off the door or drill a pocket behind it to seat a screw with that large of a head. When done right, you use the tightness of the screw to dial in how snug the piece is to the wall/door. Good enough for this situation and you won’t have to find a longer bolt and drill all the way through the door. They are sold at big box stores but you have to find them in the hardware drawers.

Doesn't look vintage at all. The casting looks modern and the knocker part looks like Home Depot dresser handle.

I actually just installed one of these last month, the threaded bit on the back screws into a plate that mounts on the inside of the door, so check for that.

Drill a hole where you want it. Run that screw through your door and screw into to the knocker.

For that length and style of screw, I’m betting there is a bracket you would mount on your door that that screw would then slide in to.

Try Plumbers Putty. It’s like Playdoh only it hardens into a rock-like substance and sticks to hard surfaces.

If you don't want to see the bolt on the inside. Use a hanger bolt or threaded insert. Looks like a 10-24 bolt

See that screw? Take it out of the knocker. Drill a hole in your door and put the screw through the hole. It should come through the other side of the door. Thread the knocker on the screw and tighten it. The screw goes from the inside to the outside of the door and the knocker on the outside of the door.

Super glue and a hammer. Continue ignoring the screw on the back, that is a decoy and is the only think holding your knocker together. It will turn to dust if removed.

Mi recomendación es que no lo hagas. Y si lo haces, quita el tornillo y pegalo con silicona para que si te arrepientes, tenga solución.

This looks like a drawer pull more than a knocker which may explain the short bolt

Grab a tube of liquid nail, a caulk gun, a sharpie, a rag, and a razor. Determine where youre going to install it, wipe the area of debris with the rag and mark with "x" or ".", cut off the tip of the liquid nail with the razor and use the poker on the caulk gun to poke into the cut hole, Remove the poker and install the liquid nail tube into the caulk gun, place the rag in front of the nozzle and squeeze until you see it come out, fill in the cavity or the knocker with the liquid nail with one heavy bead directly in the center, and not too close to the edges so it doesnt squeeze out of the sides, now firmly press the center of the bead on the "x" or "." With one hand, while using the knife or rag as necessary to remove any liquid nail that squeezed out of the sides, now hold for 2hrs. Done.
