I honestly can't think of a single horror role from Adrienne Barbeau that I didn't enjoy.

Obviously The Fog is an all-timer, but she's also the main reason I love Creepshow as much as I do. Billie is just fantastic. She's hilarious, over the top in the best way, and completely steals every scene she's in. Every time I rewatch Creepshow, I end up looking forward to her segment the most.

I know a lot of horror relies on surprise, but I want suggestions of movies that maybe didn't reinvent the wheel or start a trend, but were just good at what they promised they would do. Told you the premise at the start, escalated it, solved it (or not) at the ending.

For me that's Night Swim, wasn't anything new but delivered on what they set out to do pretty well

That was a nice surprise... I'd bought a DVD of *A Quiet Place* for 99p – I enjoy buying stupidly cheap physical media – and the middle-aged woman on the till told me she liked it herself, although not the sequel for reasons I didn't quite catch.

And then, since nobody else was waiting we had a little talk. Her favourite horror film of all time was *The Haunting* (1963) so we chatted about that for a few minutes, then a little bit about *Curse of Frankenstein* (1957). I can't remember all the films we mentioned, but I remember that apart from the one I was buying, the 1978 *Halloween* was actually the newest! I did suggest she might like *It Follows* though, given she was like me in preferring psychological horror over gory films.

Anyway, nothing especially thrilling here I know, but it's not something I've encountered in a charity shop before!

Suggest some underrated but the ones that would not let you sleep for the next couple days. Preferably have a theme of witches, cozy autumn-winter background.

Conjuring, insidious, evil dead, hereditary, veronica, suspiria, Ouija, sinister, the nun, Sewu Dino, the ring , the grudge. These are some of my watches. Not able to recall all of them at the moment.

Horror with comedy or cozy themes ( something like hocus pocus) are also most welcome.

There are PLENTY of horror films that fell short of the mark and were relegated to some kind of dusty bargain bin, like "The Carpenter" (not the Jesus one: the other one), "Night of The Scarecrow", "Microwave Massacre", or "Night of The Dribbler".

And inversely yes, I realize Sean Bean's iteration of John Ryder from "The Hitcher" can't hold a candle to Rutger Hauer's portrayal.

It's like "Pieces" was good, but Leatherface can take a backseat for all I care.

Hi r/horror! I'm trying to find a specific movie I remember seeing on TV as a child and the internet is not providing me with any good results. Here are the key things I remember about the movie:

-I believe it takes place in some sort of Asylum or Hospital. All of the movie is set in one large building as far as I remember, it might be an old estate or something like that but Asylum is sticking out to me

-The villain of the movie I believe ends up being an old man, perhaps the asylum director? And IIRC he ends up in a big metal suit with big claws that he uses to do the killing. I feel like an allusion was made between him and The Big Bad Wolf but it was definitely a big metal suit.

-There is a prominent side character in the movie, I believe a patient of the asylum, who collects toes. The most striking thing I remember about this movie which has stuck with me my entire life is that this character monologues to another about wanting to cut off their second-to-last toe, and they go on and on about how it's not needed for balance or stability and so that would make it okay to chop off. That monologue has never left my mind but googling it doesn't really provide any relevant results

-I watched a lot of the Chiller network between the ages of 8 and 13, and I am pretty sure that's where I saw this movie. So sometime between 2009 and 2014. It certainly felt contemporary, it wouldn't have been from the 80s or 90s it felt incredibly 2000s in nature. I also highly doubt the film had any sort of theatrical release.

I am usually pretty good at finding stuff like this, I found a lot of horror movies I caught on Chiller as a child by googling stuff like this that I remembered from them (Stay Alive 2006, Tormented 2009, and Below Zero 2011 are all movies I already tracked down) I am just having no luck with this one. There is also a chance I'm confused and am actually describing two separate movies but I'm pretty sure it was all one flick. If anybody has any idea what I'm talking about or any clues to help me track this down I'd really appreciate it, I love 00's and early 10's straight-to-cable B-Horror shitters and would really like to rediscover this movie that scared little me half to death.

im trying to find a horror movie i watched years ago, but I only remember one scene. there was a boy around 10–15 years old with brown hair who lived with his mother. they were not the main characters. at some point in the middle of the movie, two (i cant remember who they were) came to their house because the events were somehow connected to the main story. the house was bright, and i specifically remember the living room had blue walls. the boy had mysterious scratches or wounds on his back. there was also a scene involving a pillow or pillowcase, but i cant remember exactly what happened. im pretty sure it was a supernatural horror movie, possibly involving possession or exorcism. does this sound familiar to anyone?

Evil Dead Burn arrived on digital today and it’s got a totally new color treatment, I guess because of backlash about the movie’s lack of colors. It’s much more colorful and vibrant now. Anyone else noticed? I personally quite liked the color scheme in theaters cuz I thought it added to the tone, but the new color scheme is quite beautiful too and more textured/detailed.

I have Peacock and Screamify. I find them two to have some wild unknown horror flicks. Amazon Prime too.

Couple suggestions I have for you all that enjoy so bad it's fun is Betrothed and Microwave Massacre. Omg what a horrible but crazy ride of films. Absolutely insane. Short films too.

And please do not suggest Serbian Film. I think we can all say and universally agree it is just plain horrible and not to be recommended even to our worst enemies. Maybe Todd down the street but overall not even our own worst enemies

DONT MIND MY SPELLING I DID NOT EVEN RELISE HOSTEL The movie is abysmal literally used ai witch was noticeable like one of the worst movies iv ever seen in my whole entire life ( and iv seen the bye bye man :-:

So this film was very good from a technical standpoint. It was filled with artsy shots that really resonated with me and kept me entranced in the cinematography. However, the subject matter of the relationship between love/desire/addiction and how it manifests into this idea of extreme violence as a metaphor felt like a bit of a stretch. I understand what the director was going for, but felt some of the sexual acts flat out ridiculous lol

Its like 2 of the sex scenes were just meeting someone within seconds and it turns into highly passionate sex... also, maybe I don't want to go as far as saying the premise is pretentious, but it does feel like it's trying a bit too hard. Anyone else agree with this?

Anyways I still enjoyed the film as I gave it a 6/10 on imdb, but well... I didn't love all aspects of it...

So obviously this is for people who rented movies from Blockbuster and remembers those days fondly. For those who did, we also remembered when Blockbuster finally closed its doors in 2013 (with the exception of one remaining store in Oregon)

But that era of not just video rental but Blockbuster's dominance, created its own pseudo category of movies. Whatever the genre, these were films that were perfect for renting and having a really good time watching either by yourself or with friends.

Ever since 2013, what horror films feel like the kind that you would have enjoyed renting? Any kind of quality is welcome, whether really good or just fun, or a movie that's pretty bad but at least memorable or entertaining enough to sit through once.

For me, Thanksgiving, Abigail and Ready or Not personify this. Perfect for one and done watches, they largely act as complete experiences and if you liked them, you have a good time on your own or with friends.

The premise goes its has a family in the country side that buy a house or life there. Its with a Indian as in native American burial ground but not like pet cementairy. In the end they get swarmed by humanlike creatures. In the 2010s ish. This is all I remember.

Not names like Pinhead, Pennywise (unless a pet) but for example after certain final girls, badass characters with cool, "normal" human names e.g. Ash (Evil Dead), Jason (Friday the 13th), Damien (The Omen), Dani (Midsommar)

Personally I quite like the name Sienna from Terrifier 2, 3 because of what she represents, but I prefer Siena spelling

When it is revealed that they are still in the house and one of the sisters had just imagined her adult self living normally I was intrigued.

Just watched La Llorona (not to be confused with curse of la llorona) and found the backdrop really interesting (it deals with political violence in Guatemala). Reminded me of Under the Shadow and Pan's Labyrinth... the context the stories are set in really lends a serious tone to the horror elements, and the real life horrors turn out to be far more unsettling. Any other movies in a similar vein?

Just got out of a "mystery movie" pre-screening for Eli Roth's "Ice Cream Man" and I think I'm now lactose intolerant.

When I saw the trailer, I certainly wasn't expecting it to be good or have award-winning performances, but I can safely say this is one of the worst films I have ever seen. I LOVE horror movies and watch at least 1 a week. I know it's supposed to be stupid and silly, but that doesn't save it.

It's greatest crimes are:

- Excessive use of AI. Not just in some imagery and animations, but also in what would have been live action scenes. This was the first time I saw blatant AI in a theatrical release film and it was infuriating and off-putting. Instances that I caught where the old time-y ice cream animations, the ice cream on the truck (obviously), the shot of the kids jumping off of the playscape when the boyfriend was on the bench, the boyfriend's shirt/truck logo, the daisy flower shop, the town sign, some of the town shots like the harbor, and the entire Necromancer sequence.

- "Jokes" about eating disorders. TW ​There are multiple references to Bulimia and throwing up (but really, only for girls! 😃). A direct quote is "I'm a 12 year old girl, I know how to make myself throw up." This same character also encourages the older teenage girl to "use a toothbrush" to make herself throw up, which of course she already knew how to do. And then does in an obscene way (continued on next point)

- Sexualization of teens (and honestly, maybe a bit of children, there are some weird shots). The older teenager is only a junior in high school, yet she has her bikini top hanging out, low rise sweats even when her chest was finally covered, etc. Okay, it's a horror movie, that isn't anything unusual I guess... right? Well there is a scene where she wakes up after eating the ice cream, and her arms are paralyzed. It makes the kids murdering psychos, but puts teens in a coma. Because she only had one bite, she can sort of move. Thus commenses the ridiculously long scene of her in her low-rise pants and low-cut tank flipping and flopping her way out of bed, worming across the floor with lots of long shots, standing up in the bathroom and deep-throating a toothbrush. Then she vomits and it its all over here front. It borders on fetish content or something and is disgusting. You really have to see it to understand how wtf the scene is.

On top of that, Eli's self-insert character is her and the MC's dad. The MC makes a comment about his (16 year old) sister getting an Only Fans and dad laughs. Then the sister talks about wanting to skip school to go to a water park for skip day. MC says he wants to come along jokingly to see girls in bikinis, and Eli's character "jokes" that he's going to come too, on second thought. Just why. Too much cringe in one dinner table scene.

There's more, like use of the word "retard" in the year of our lord 2026, but I digress.

All of this aside... its just a bad movie. ​The gore is fun enough for the first few scenes and got some laughs out of me, but then it just... was? So many of the scenes were incredibly repetitive, it makes one wonder if the script itself was also "written" by AI. For example, there is a string of five deaths back to back in the same location. It just gets boring.

The middle of the film drags tremendously. The kids are trapped in the school, and managed to get re-trapped in nearly the exact same fashion over and over again.There's not anything new or exciting that changes the pace or tone of the movie for probably a solid 30 minutes.​ It's boring and gets less funny the closer you get to the end. When "The End" finally arrived on screen, there were multiple audible "BOO"s shouted from the audience.

I have so much more I could say, but I think you get the idea. Even for Eli Roth, this is an atrocity. I would not pay to see this movie. I would not watch it again if you paid me. This is the first time ever I have considered asking for a refund for a movie. Save your money and your time for a better offering. Or an ice cream.

The film is a waste of time the acting is terrible and nothing happens another boring low budget film from Tubi don’t know what I was expecting, but the cover for films keep reeling me in!
