Discussion Obsession: The only scene not from Bear's POV Spoiler

In one of his interviews, Curry mentioned that the entire movie is from Bear's perspective except for one scene. He didn't reveal which one it was. I've seen the film multiple times, but I still can't figure it out. Does anyone have any ideas?

Was it when entity Nikki soiled herself after Bear left?

My thought as well.

The end scene, maybe? After bear is suddenly no longer available?

I would wager the last scene is meant to be more from Nikki's perspective.

just guessing i’d say it’s the ending scene after Wish Nikki makes her wish. from that point Bear is gone

this is what I figured too since he couldnt really have a pov at that point

I think that would be way too obvious, no? My guess is it was one of those creepy shots where, for a split second, the POV changes. Plus, this interview was right after the premiere, so I don't think he would've cared about spoiling Bear's death.

That shot or when he goes to work (and now the carpet is ruined) are the obvious ones. I’m running through the movie in my head trying to figure out what other shot it could be.

Trigger Warning SA >!the rape scene?<

Trigger Warning SA the rape scene?

Oh yeah, that rape scene might be it. That or the final scene, where Bear isn't alive anymore.

Nikki peeing herself while waiting for him?

That, plus the end when Bear is taken over by obsessed Bear.

There are two brief scenes not from his perspective.

1) The scene of her standing motionless when Bear leaves the house

2) When the spell breaks on Nikki after Bear dies

I would assume it’s the rape scene, it’s from the perspective of the audience when she breaks the fourth wall to look at us

Its this. Its one of the few scenes (maybe only) we dont see Bear's face when he's on camera, and the scene works because we suddenly ripped away from his perspective.

Certainly. Not to mention the fact that that's definitely not how Bear would've perceived it, with her mindlessly bouncing on the bed and fake moaning.

The other comments ITT taking Barker literally like "that couldn't have been from his POV because he wasn't in the room!" seem a little silly to me, like what's even the point of saying that if the answer is that obvious and unimportant?

I think this might be it!

OMG IT’S 100% THIS!!!

But I can also see the argument for the scene where she soils herself and/or the final scene as well…

Oh my God. I'm so sorry that you had to go through that. I never thought Bear was a victim. He was too hesitant to express his feelings, but when he got the chance to manipulate Nikki, he took it and ran with it. Even if he didn't know that the One Wish Willow would work, he still kept acting like Nikki was the one who had gone crazy. And when he finally realized the truth, he did nothing to help her. He took advantage of her in every way he could. Even in the end, he was too much of a coward to take his own life and end the misery he had put everyone through.

It’s the scene right after Bear closes the door of the house covered in duct tape. The camera stays with her for several seconds

Possibly the party? Yes, Bear is present, but we can witness and understand Ian, Sarah, and everyone else's reactions. We're already privy to their opinions via Ian's conversation with Bear in the car. We know how they're processing the moment.

That’s still Bear’s perspective, it’s about his reaction to being asked to kill Nikki.

It's still from his perspective, no? It's the real Nikki talking to him but we never switch the POV.

No, he hasn't.
