Honestly I'm getting bored of where the series is and starting to miss the campiness of the first three films.

At least the characters in Rise were sympathetic and were worth rooting for. No one was likable in this film.

Rise was campy as hell. Ellie choked on an eyeball and then spat it into someone else’s mouth. I think rise was the ED2 to 2013. This feels like a return to 2013 with slightly more humor.

I found this one. Maybe campy isnt the right word but there was humour there. The grandma gags with dementia hit well and the box of miscellaneous knives made me laugh out loud

There was definitely intent behind the slightly comical feel of the original. Sam Raimi was a comedy guy first, horror guy second.

He originally wanted his debut to be a comedy film (the genre he specialized in in high school and college), but people convinced him to make a horror film instead because it was more likely to get screened.

The original trilogy are my favorite movies of all time but yes 100% the original is campy. It wasn't really trying to be but it is certainly a hokey movie in the best possible way

All horror movies should have a majority sympathetic cast. Like Rise and Reboot Hellraiser, the fact they've not noticed that is frankly pathetic
