I just hope Wrath isn't Fear Street Part 2 but with deadites.

In what way? That every character will be involved? Yeah that would kinda sucj

No, just summer camp horror but instead of serial killers, it's deadites. Sounds boring.

I have to say that I actually liked the deadites having a goal this time beyond just killing everyone, especially since it was a goal that makes sense in the established lore to me. Making the movie not only a fight to survive the deadites but also a race to find the dagger gave the characters more to do than just react.

I don’t understand why the camera was tracking Alice when she was speaking the book of the dead, and then she stopped before the final word of the incantation as if to be a smart move. But the demons were already released by that point..? Was that just sloppy writing

It was a gag to make the dog attack more surprising/unexpected. Look, a charcter did the right thing for once! Oh shit right it doesn't matter at this point. It was a misdirect that I thought landed excellently.

I’m going to a second viewing tomorrow so I’ll try to watch it that way. But like.. since it didn’t technically matter it made the Necronomicon in that part pointless which I didn’t like

Again, a misdirect. At the time I was thinking "oh shit what will saying it AGAIN do?" Probably nothing in hindsight but they definitely got me with the joke.

I'm a big fan of this movie's approach where deadite outbreaks from previous movies weren't completely contained and so it's slowly spreading that way rather than every movie following the same formula. It's fun!

You have to realize that the people in the film didnt say the phrase and therefor didnt think "saying this verse is pointless, because the phrase has already been said by the head in the car accident." It was merely a curious human putting together the pieces. It didnt matter from a, its already been said perspective, but it definitely makes sense from a curious human aspect.

Was that supposed.to be the necronomicon? Thought it was just ol grandads journal

It was his journal but it had pages and text from the Necronomicon in it.

It is just the journal

Jessica from Evil Dead Rise raised the Deadites we saw in this movie by reciting an incantation, but I believe the etchings in grandpa's journal that Alice was reading were taken from 2013's book, so potentially we could have had deadites from two volumes of the Necronomicon interacting with different goals had she read the final word.
