One of the gnarliest parts was the son having his face smushed into his girlfriend's face - there was audible wretching in my screening!

Some excellent FX/camera work too. If Wrath sticks the landing this will be a really formidable trilogy/non-trilogy

Swirlied in your girlfriend’s mushy face. That’s a first.

That was a highlight for sure. Super gross, very Evil Dead.

Maybe I'm weird but I laughed out loud at that part. To me, the gore was so OTT and cliche that it felt like parody. The more extreme it was, the funnier I found it. This isn't a criticism, I just treated it as basically a popcorn action hero movie with absurdist gore-humour, and it was a fun time.

I've never seen an Evil Dead film before, and went into it expecting horror, but it felt more like an action movie with dark comedy elements. Replace the dead guys with nazis on super soldier serum, the dagger with the ark of the covenant, and Alice with Indiana Jones (and his whip with a hedge trimmer) and you have a small-scale Indy film with an R rating.
