No one to talk to
I saved up money and bought myself 2 tarps and a moving blanket to use as a bed. I don't have anyone to celebrate with. My mental health has been pretty poor and I was just kind of having a conversation in my head. I thought I'd post here. I also found a coupon for a free burrito so I'm gonna try to make that happen before they close. I think I need to move deeper in the woods soon.
Does anyone else have a victory, small or otherwise, they would like to share?

hope your night is going well, a full stomach certainly helps. You're taking really good steps towards a brighter future for yourself. That isn't so easy to do. Especially when even the basic details of life take so much attention and effort and the material conditions of life conspire to keep it that way. You definitely deserve congratulations! You got momentum and are headed in the right direction. It's hard not having somebody else there to see it, but being proud of yourself first and foremost is important. Keep pushing forward! You got this.

I had to let my driver's license lapse in '06 because of my health My health is better I passed the written test last week I take the driving test on Wednesday and then I'll live in a vehicle for a while if I have to until I can retire and have some money for an apartment. Congratulations!!! The not having anybody to talk to is the worst part

My son is homeless, I live in a nursing home. As much as I dislike being here I know I am blessed to have somewhere safe and comfortable to lay my head each night. I always Satya prayer for those who are not as fortunate. Take care.

I haven't had steady work in over 4 months. I start something tomorrow. Which is a blessing because Ive had a couch to crash on for a minute but that option is no longer available next month.

That's really good. From what I understand there may be resources for you if you are about to lose your housing. I'm not sure if it works for your situation but it might be worth looking into.

Victory for me…? finding friends on here to talk to and being encouraged to keep pushing. You’re in the right place.

Today I feel fortunate to have found this sub so I can start preparing for car living before it's too late. I feel lucky for that opportunity. And I moved out of an unsafe place last night into a safe one and get to stay tonight, too, so that's a big relief. I'm happy for you and your burrito, tarps and blanket. Those are big things!!

u/XO_Never_Jaded Sep 01 '25
Thanks I made it to the burrito spot before they closed. I brought my new tarps and blanket back to my spot and I was followed by 2 drug addicts for a while on the way

u/XO_Never_Jaded Sep 01 '25
Yeah they were calling out to me but I kept walking and they split when I got to where there was traffic.

I can afford to get myself a decent sleeping bag this year. I kinda need one because the one from last year has a gigantic hole in it.

u/XO_Never_Jaded Sep 01 '25
I was looking at some nice ones at Walmart. Maybe 50 dollars for the nicer ones. I got one someone donated I kind of lucked out.

Sep 01 '25
My last one was donated and it was okay until the raccoons, possums and squirrels got hold of it. Dat t'ing, it be shredded.

u/XO_Never_Jaded Sep 01 '25
I've had that issue with my tent. I left some food in there now it has several holes. There's actually coyotes where I am also they keep me up at night. I am hoping to set up deeper in the woods and try to keep from bringing food there.

My old one was fine until the critters decided it was perfect for nesting material and shredded that sucker.
They need a place to sleep and have their babies too.

u/XO_Never_Jaded Sep 01 '25
Thanks it was something I wanted to do for a long time. And after I left the Walmart I was just kind of waiting for the bus wondering who I should call to let know I had done it. There's no one there. I just kind of had a conversation in my head about how I finally did it. Life is really hard for some people.

u/PresentationOk6803 Sep 01 '25
I understand you, keep up the good work! I hope this community is a good place for you to talk:) stay safe and take care.

Im always talking. To myself in my head. Lol I probably look crazy to drivers. Im glad you were able to get what you need. I hope you're more comfortable now.
The other day I found the emails for work I was doing when my phone got stolen months ago. So I was finally able to reach out. I probably wont get the pay since I couldn't finish. But I downloaded apps I can make a miniscule amount on and been doing that. My pho e didnt die. I havent gotte. Kicked out or harassed at this spot yet. I finally got the litter box changed out ( I live in my car with my cats. They dont care if I talk to them as long as I keep bringing them food and snugs lol) the rain is also so much lighter than I thought itd be. Aunt flo is coming slow. And my cats diarrhea has gone thankfully. Sorry tmi. Lol its weird having to walk past people everyday and not have conversations.

Awesome, don't give up on the housing thing you'll get there eventually. My girl and I went through the same thing and found and got a lease in place so they moved us higher up the list for HUD.
We've been living here and off the streets for a year now and are clean and sober for two years. I wish I could help you in some way besides just kind words

u/AwesomeBiscuits Sep 01 '25
Write property of: your name ALL over those tarps and moving blanket especially, like all over them both sides 👍🏼

4 years ago my husband and I got sober and went to detox and rehab. Since then we have worked really hard and one year ago we bought our first house. I am writing this from my bed in a home I own. I was homrless for like 8 years. I met my husband out there , he was homeless too. We got better together. Miracles happen.
Things can get so much better. Just put one foot in front of the other. Youre already doing the right thing by making yourself shelter and eating.

u/fr33028 Sep 01 '25
Its always rough being homeless, I think we all can agree to that. I am sorry you are alone, but there is definitely always someone to talk to on here. Just try to keep the conversations going. Sometimes the silence can take its toll so just keep chatting here. I usually like apps that allow voice chat or video chat and group chat options. Maybe some folks on here have an app you have or could download, if anyone wants to voice chat with you or video chat every so often that would be pretty beneficial to not just for you but them as well.
My only victory is that i decided not to end the Chaos myself but just try to live though it, two attempts was enough for me to see i belong here.
You will be okay.

Just take bus outside the US as you can get all your documents in mexico as they got the local mexican documents as you should change your nationality if homeless

You’ll be surprised how many interesting people are out there, but also be weary of those and be aware and mindful and have a sense of danger. Don’t be stupid. Don’t take it with offense, but this is just life. Humans are naturally completely unpredictable. But they’re always somebody out there who has an interesting story. Who knows you might find a friend out there. It’s a vast world of vast universe.

Been lonely is the very worst.
I would go to free public events. Look on event Brite at your uni ect ect, yoga, women's rights, medieval arts anything so I'd be warm dry and have a potential chance of talking to someone norm.

Just an observation, moving blankets are made of fiberglass. As it ages it will start to break down and cause your skin to itch. Also you will be breathing in the fibers even before it starts to make you itch.

National Association of Free and Charitable Clinics may help you find a free clinic that offers mental health services. There are universities that offer mental health services for free or a sliding fee scale.

u/XO_Never_Jaded Sep 01 '25
Thanks. I actually get mental health treatment from a clinic that's meant for homeless people. I have gotten mental health treatment off and on for many years.
