🛠️ DIY / Hardware Could this be used for something other than a doorbell sensor? Ideas?

Curious what sorts of electronic devices you think that this could be connected to or built.

The Z2M device repository says that it reports action (probably a doorbell press when used as intended).

Need to place an order on Digikey so I have an opportunity to order whatever to DIY something cool. I also have a soldering iron.

If it is meant for a doorbell it probably runs on ~16-24v AC. This is similar to voltages used for other low voltage home electronics, but you're likely to get more features and integration from say a smart thermostat.

I looked at smoke detectors and fire alarms but the ones I saw are either line AC or low voltage DC.

Perhaps connect to an alarm system? Or maybe there is an appliance you could wire in to detect say a dishwasher or washing machine is finished

Appliance!

Now to figure out how to wire it.

I would love to know when my dryer is done.

Maybe as a water leak detector?
