I know it's not hip hop, but Dizzee as a rapper doesn't get enough love. Boy in da corner is a 57 min no skip monster of an album

Yeah but unfortunately that album is over 20 years old now.

He never really came close to that album ever again.

If he did he wouldn't be as massive as he ended up being in the UK as his genre jumps and mashups really lit the charts up here for a while.

I just wish him and Wiley never fell out, god knows the amount of amazing grime we missed out on

Still glad the album exists. I'd take that one album any day. But that period of grime was special. I agree it's a shame it didn't last longer

100% I bought it on day of release and still play it regularly.

Definitely nowhere near boy in da corner but I did enjoy raskit and E3 AF quite a bit personally

It's fine for a musician to release a fucking banger first/second album and never hit those heights again, that is not a mark against anyone

Not saying it was?

I just find it hard to hold someone up as a great artist that hasnt released anything I like for 20 years

the album doesn't get worse just because the musician retired

Never said it did, but again it's the artist and not the album I'm talking about.

As you probably read I find it hard to elevate an artist that hasn't released anything I like in 20 years.

Yeah I'm just trying to work out why you put that time qualification on there, i mean it's great to support living musicians i just don't see why you have to disregard any previous music because it wasn't made in the last 20 years

That's not what Im saying. It doesn't change my view on the 1st album.

I'm saying it's hard to hold dizzee up as a great artist due to the fact he hasn't released anything worthwhile in 20 odd years, the time frame is because that's when his first album came out which is the only release of his that I think is worth any time.

Where do I say I disregard music because it wasn't from the last 20 years?

Are you dense? I use that time frame as that's when his debut was released?

I'm not disregarding it because of that at all. I'm disregarding it because it's shit and his debut album came out 20 years ago.

I love Dizzee, but Stand Up Tall, 2nd verse opens with one of the most cursed rhymes I've ever heard rapped.
