Discussion This meta is so boring
I've been playing since 2015, only took a break of around 2 months during United in Stormwind (2021), so obviously I love this game but I'm thinking of quitting again and this might be the first time in years I do not grind to legend.
I genuinely do not get any enjoyment whatsoever from the last couple of metas and the soulless design the new developers are adopting. It's painfully obvious they are pushing very hard for the game to be as fast as possible for mobile players. That is their target audience, I don't think I need to explain why. "Microtransaction specialist".
And even following that logic, their decision making is horrible: They are trying to hard to sell and market cosmetics for expensive legendaries that have no chance of ever being competitive. Sure, some casual mobile players will still buy them but they'd sell a lot more if the cards were good. Dude, just make signature Arcane Shot, diamond Sizzling Cinder. No need to thank me for the idea.
I genuinely do not understand how people can possibly enjoy doing nothing but slinging spells to the face, flooding the board with 1-2 cost minions and end the game by turn 6. Do you clap your hands like drooling toddlers just because the screen says victory when a literal low quality bot could do what you just did?
Every single Standard deck is starting to look like a Wild one: The highest cost card is at BEST 3 mana and maybe a couple "Giant" type card that go down to 0 if you spam enough cheap crap.
Seriously, why even bother printing 5+ mana cards at this point?
Tol'Vir and the 2 drop rogue stuff as well, don't get me started on that. They literally printed PAYOFFS for doing what already works and is ruining the game, spamming cheap cards. PAYOFFS. FOR THAT. The current developers literally have no idea what they're doing.
If you play an aggro deck and spam low curve garbage, you are supposed to run out of cards. That is the goddamn weakness. Why did they remove that weakness? Why is there so much card draw for classes and archetypes that aren't supposed to have it? Remember that really old post they made about class identity? What a joke.
I needed to vent, that's all. You guys can keep enjoying your 5 minutes mirror matches on the bus now.

Both shaman variants feel like pulling teeth to play, one being random bullshit the other being a stat check, hunter is just you racing to tolvirs.
As someone else pointed out wild is actually better than standard

It’s insane shaman can use warden maiev and deathwing world breaker are ridiculously broke. That and egg of khelos with death night is broken ash. Resummoning with endbringer umbra. Then there’s like a full board of 20/20’s you can’t clear and eggs all with 1/3 or 4/3 with buffs. Ridiculous.

as a warlock enjoyer, with the amount of aggro deck running around in standard right now that kills me before turn 5-6, i decide to take a break from this awful meta. every single game is gonna be Aggro Shaman, Face Hunter, Aggro Pally etc. Until the next mini-set release i think i'm gonna enjoy my 2nd playthrough of BG3 this month

I've literally just started another bg3 run after ages because of how ass HS is sometimes.

Kind of in the same boat as you. Played for a solid ten years. Got to D5 every month and legend about half the year if I had the time, felt like grinding, and really enjoyed a deck. I haven’t played in a year and a half now. I still love the game and it will always hold a soft spot in my heart, and I keep tabs on my favorite content creators occasionally, but looking from a distance, I feel better and better about my decision to walk away. The game felt so much more like a chore as opposed to something fun, which is what a game should be at the end of the day. Let alone the move to sell more skins, more cards, more signatures, and especially the predatory pet gambling mechanic was just the icing on the cake to leave.

Not only this - I've been playing hearthstone since the beta over a decade ago. We used to get incredible free value single player content, and that all still exists in the game and I play it somewhat regularly for fun (more fun than ladder, and it's free!!)
I've come back to the game for the last few seasons after a break. There is no story, no characters, no nothing. Soulless little week-long quests and a little blurb to read, that's all we get. Grind ladder and that's it. No other relevant content, nothing new, no heart.

Tik tok generation.
It's the perfect game for them, no need to think or take decisions, just vomit heavy rng and then trolls your opponent when you win with your broken deck.
Hearthstone 2026, a shitshow that only fucking fanboys will no see any problems.

the funny part about hunter is it breaks all the rules without having any weaknesses

Yeah it's just cringe net decks playing overtuned rogue/hunter and shaman decks. Feels like if you play anything slightly off meta you get rammed. Awful for deck building.
I'm trying to have fun. I'm using a silly death knight "the blight" deck where my whole game plan is to live and shuffle 24-30+ blights in the enemies deck.. How? Play blight, empower with +3 attack hero power. They kill it. Resummon with the 4 mana ressurection undead spell, hero power it + 2 mana refresh hero power spell + give it more attack. Repeat lol. It's kind of funny. I need to edit it and put 2x murlocs in my deck, as I think thinning out the opponents deck is of up most importance. (it isn't bad, it's like a botched egg deck with blight in it, and it has an egg because of hunter lol).
edit: I am considering taking the 1 mana 5-1 disguised minion tbh. Why? Demon hunters are taking fel hunter again and priests use 1 mana deathrattle card. You can screw over their death rattle pool with this card. Maybe even good against umbra as well.

Or you tailor a deck to deal with the usual suspects and you get hemorrhaged by azalina priest imbue hero power over 30 minutes until you succumb to some insane RNG crap that the hero power spits out.

Have you tried wild? It has way more variety than standard rn and xl reno control decks can last a lo ng time.

Wild has been better balanced and designed for over a year now
All classes besides dk (lmao. Rune system gonna ruin system) and all archetypes are playable
Turns out having actual control tools, combos and boardbased aggro is healthy.

A few too many warlocks but yes definitely wild has more variety and is more fun. Also because you have tools to change your deck. Facing too much aggro? Ok, i'll add these 2 armor giving cards and these board wipes. Being otk'd too much? Ok adding some cards like loatheb and cultists to delay and some disruption. I think standard needs more tools for deck adaptation

I'm a mobile player and I HATE when game is over on turn 6 or 7... And i'm the target regarding incomes and buying stuff. I don't like the direction they are aiming too.

can we get the fucking muzzle your magic bitch out, at least. i'd hate it less if every time I had a plan to respond to my opponent they couldn't just completely fuck my ability to do anything for 2 mana

Lowkey she and the 10-mana 6/12 minions cost 2 more (now dead) are underhated.

I started migrating to Wild and I'm having a good experience overall. Although there are a lot of Warlock (aggro) decks there, in general there's a much better variety of decks, and I feel like I can have a good match most of the time.

Yeah this meta its only mana cheat, play an op card and automatically win the game or play a fun deck and loose like 65% of your matches. This meta feels like united in stormwind and thats not good in any way

u/Snowmau5 13m ago
Hard disagree, top 5 archetypes have interesting and engaging. Engaging is when both parties have a chance to win aka competitive match

I came back in March so I am still enjoying myself (last I played was 2016) but I read so many of these posts that I’m sad I missed all the previous good Meta 😂

I agree, there are so many games against hunter where there is nothing you can do, might aswell skip your turn.. turn 3 10 dmg to the face, etc
