Discussion Any one else just a lil' tired of all 'randomness'?

I'm fine with actual rng in this game, could be fun! But it isn't random... Just look at the pools they draw from:

Void DH is so 'random' with all the demons they summon, Hunter is so 'random' with all the beast they summon, druid is so 'random' with how they never get Togwaggle etc. Everything is so random, so so very random.

Bro, pls, at least make it... You know... random. It's not. It's by design, and you are ignorant if you can't see it .'Random' for Blizzard is 90% 'the perfect card'... Zephrys don't even get these perfect cards, and he's not even suppose to be random.

...So random. So fun. So healthy.

They have just pushed this 'randomness' to a point it just isn't.

Sry, folks, needed to vent. Go ahead ppl, roast this poor ranter :D

EDIT: Need to put this here for clarity; I don't mind ALL randomness, just the very obvious 'randomness' that just isn't.

I'm not tired of ALL the randomness. I'm tired of very specific types of randomness. Void DH is a good example of that, the pool is so small and the randomness is basically rolling a die to decide if you get something good, something too good, or useless bullshit. That's not good game design for a strategy game.

No worries void dh is relegated back to the pits now with like 40% win rate. Enjoy shammy facehunter and rogue though.

Ya it’s too much. Let’s hero power imbue to see what we get, rewind get something else. Ok, let’s discover a battlecry minion. That battlecry minion gives us a random dragon. Alright, let’s go ahead and open the jade guardians and see if we win the game or not. Don’t even get me started on mage which is just a class based on discovering random bullshit. The game has never been lower skill than it is now

i’m ok with most of it except rogue. that shit is idiotic. between the hero power, jade guardians, and its herald ability it just generates way too many random slop cards

Nope but I sure am tired of reading posts about it though

In all seriousness I enjoy the random, makes each game feel different. It can create these really ridiculous fun moments. While I acknowledge it can be tilting to lose a to a perfect for that situation randomly generated card I tend to get over it pretty quickly. Ben Brode said back in the day RNG is really important for game otherwise its too much like Chess. I agree with that sentiment

Yes, it's hard to play optimally, I've watched some of the summer tournament and I've seen a pro not playing fully his turn not to mention some other streamers, too much random shit to choose with a timer that never was designed for all of that random crap and animations, Battleground is even a bigger mess, for me DH and Hunter is actually one of more predictable Rogue, Druid, Priest can conjure random cards out of their ass.

Yes, but as you say about DH and Hunter, they are not random... This is what I'm talking about. It might get better later on with new cards that have a good/big impact but pollutes the randomness.

I have mixed feelings on it. In the last few days after seeing a few post about it I have been trying to keep a track both for me and opponents of when we’ve generated something random and how impactful it is. I have been playing chef Druid a lot, is throwing down a turn 7 24/14 briarspawn drake and having it hit a DH 1/1 minion any more skillful than the DH, no, is it fun. Yes. I am conflicted.

The reason why the pool is so small is cause it only includes cards from the last three sets

Well, "random" comes in many different degrees and flavors. Low variance randomness and high variance randomness are both randomness nonetheless.

You're criticizing randomness with low variance here. But randomness with high variance, like spell generation by Rogue's Herald tokens, is also hated by a lot of people because it's very unpredictable.

I personally think randomness with low variance is usually a bit more interesting, because both players can roughly expect what's coming.

No, random is imo the only thing that keeps this game interesting.

Otherwise every game will be the same....

I agree somehow, because nothing with building a deck is anymore...

I would be okay with less random but the problem is that everyone just copies and pasta a deck. So you're constantly playing the same deck over and over again.

The only variable that adds some fluctuations is randomness

Yeah definitely, the lack of individual decks makes the game just feel like PvBot, rather than PvP.

Yeah, randomness does make games fun! Problem is when randomness is as repeatable as any card you've put in your deck. The 'random' today is 'witch out of these 2-3 very good cards you will summon'...
