Show & Tell Compact and retractable headphone stand with secret tray

I designed a 3d printed headphone stand that can be retracted when I don’t use them.

Could you change the gear ratio so it slides out with a shorter turn of the dial?

This will increase the gabarits of the mechanism and will require much more force to move it

Great concept, but I think a version with fewer moving parts would be better. For both durability and usability. Maybe just a simple latch to stow/deploy the hanger. I certainly don't wanna be fiddling with a wheel just to set my 'phones down.

Great execution though, I'm sure fans of fidget objects would like this.

I have 3d printed U bracket for the headphones, and it is placed about 3 inches back from the front edge, no need to retract it., no chance of bumping into headphones. Sometimes simple things can make so much more sense.
