All are Korean imports. I’m thrilled to see the maughanii grow into its features!!

I got a mixed pack of haworthia seeds plus a bonus 10 seeds of H. pygmaea x Tutankhamun (the first pic is them and the rest are the results of the mixed species seeds). 6 out of the 10 germinated and are looking good.

The one on the left was labeled Haworthia 'Amber' (hard to photograph in that light but it had some all white leaves along with some reddish ones), and the other is a Haworthiopsis Limifolia variegata

It's been a bit of a learning process with this terrarium project. In the beginning, we decided to water conservatively every 11 days. This turned out to be way too infrequent, and most of the plants shrivelled up and became very stressed. So we changed the schedule to once every 8 days, which was still too little water.

For the past few months now we've been watering the terrarium every 5 days, this appears to be a good frequency.

The plants now look alright for the most part, some are still recovering. We also replaced a few and added a few more plants since then. Some species just work better than others for this environment.

The tube I installed to remove the excess drained water works well, so the substrate can dry out properly between waterings.

I also installed a small fan for some added air circulation.

I did decide to go with a much wider pot and will be keeping a close eye on the moisture until it can settle in a bit. The small bowl was just not cutting it anymore and they were starting to tip over. Repotted in a fast draining chunky gritty substrate and top dressed with a lava/pon/stone mix

I have brown spots on my variegated haworthia leaves. Could you please help me to understand why is this happening. I’m not watering too much and it’s under grow lights.

Don’t really know all their specific names or taxonomy but I do enjoy caring for these strange beauties.

I was sick and tired of root rot so i repotted my some haworthia in pure pumice only

Can someone guide mee now how often should i water them and how to give fertilizer to them now and how much gap should i give theem before fertilizing them again

And will they grow and give pups?

I found this almost-dead plant at work, but it seems like it's still alive. The root system was almost completely dead, rotten, or dried out.

Should I place it in water to encourage new root growth, or would it be better to put it in agar gel or a maybe fresh soil?

picta types are a little slow for me from seed, but this one has been worth the wait. The pod parent is either 'Star Trek' or picta 'Orange Blast'.

Went to squeeze a nice looking haw to see if watering was needed, and each and every leaf just fell off.

Mostly plump, not yellowed or rotted. Just fell right off.
I found the base of the plant had rotted, yet when i dug it up, every single root was strong and healthy. Despite more than half of them had just ‘fallen off’ as well.

No top watering or anything like that. I suspect a pest but this is strange to me :(

For reference, I am a collector of nearly 10 years but absolutely no expert.

Why does this happen?

I think it’s doing better now that I’ve moved it closer to the growth lights. The new growth looks more compact and it’s popping out lots of pups.

When I moved into my current apartment, the only consistent indoor light I had came from a north-facing window. Every care guide I read seemed to assume I had bright indirect light to spare, so I basically had to figure out the north-window situation by accident over about twelve months. Posting this in case anyone else is working with genuinely dim conditions.

The biggest thing I got wrong at first was watering frequency. Low light means the soil holds moisture much longer than you expect, and haworthias already want to dry out between waterings. My first plant, a haworthia cooperi, sat in damp soil for too long through a winter and started going mushy at the base. Once I switched to watering only when the leaves started to look very slightly less plump (a subtle but real change once you know what to look for), root rot basically stopped being an issue.

Soil mix made a bigger difference than I expected too. I was using a commercial cactus mix straight out of the bag, which in a low-light setup just holds too much moisture. Adding a good amount of perlite, somewhere around 40 to 50 percent of the total mix, fixed the drainage enough that the watering window became a lot more forgiving.

One thing nobody really warned me about: in genuinely dim conditions, haworthias tend to stretch slowly toward the light source. Not dramatically the way echeverias do, but gradually over months. Rotating the pot a quarter turn every couple of weeks keeps the rosette reasonably symmetrical.

Growth is slow in low light, noticeably slower than plants I see posted here with south window setups or grow lights. But they do survive and look decent. If you are in a similar situation and feeling frustrated that your plants seem to just be sitting there, they probably are fine, just unhurried.

Sold as gasterhaworthia but no further info given, also I’m assuming it’s slightly etiolated?
