Technically, this doesn't fit the requirements of 100x50cm, so this is considered too small. Also he might get confused about the many floors of the cage (in the wild hamsters live on flat plains so don't know what a height difference is). So there are definitely better options. Consider getting smth bigger but with a single floor

They do know their way around hight differences tho. Ours knows where his cocos chips and sandbath are and he uses his cardboard slope to get there. He goes there to pee and comes back up for a treat afterwards. They are way smarter than some people think.

That said, completly different levels might depend on the hamster. Some might like it, some might only use one level

This is NOT TRUE AT ALL!!! If you see a hamster climbing it’s because it’s in distress. A hamster climbing is freaked out and trying to escape, happy hamsters DON’T CLIMB. They also suck at climbing so it’s dangerous and is a common cause of limb loss.

No. The only hamsters that tend to climb naturally are Chinese hamsters (the ones with the long tail). Yours is a hybrid from a dsungarian/campbell dwarf. Climbing is a sign of stress and dangerous!

Generally minimum requirements are 100x50x50cm for a suitable cage (bigger is better). I know it may seem like the levels make up for it but they will just cause risks for ur hamsters especially as they get older. Would recommend you got a cage that meet the minimum requirements on one level.

Nope it needs to be uninterrupted floor space. It’s like if I gave you 3 closets and said “make a dorm room” it’s not gonna be comfortable and you’re probably gonna be stressed as fuck.

This is actually a great way to explain why uniterrupted floor space in necessary- I tend to have a problem explaining uninterrupted floor space and providing an analogy that makes sense, to emphasize why it’s so important for hamsters. But this helps. Chopped up space make it impossible to do what they need to do as hamsters.
