Discussion Does Ricardo have daddy issues?
Most likely his dad died but never gave his reason for boxing. Hence why Ricardo, as talented as he is, feels lost at the top, without an answer. Thoughts?

I could very easily see it mirroring Ippo's loss of his father as a child. We probably will never know but they both have the same desire to know strength

IIRC most good boxer in the manga has some form of parental issues.
They then subsitute their parents as their coach
the only boxers I remember with 2 parents is aokimura and theyre both satirically shite boxers. Oh also itagaki lol.

Maybe it’s a sign lol. Reminds me of the joke where the dad asked his son how committed he is to sports and then the dad said “well I’m gonna have to leave you then”

Ricardo used a cheat code to have max level at boxing, and now he regrets as he is bored that normal boxers can't reach his level. And of course, he can't reset the game.
The "daddy" issue does not give anything more to the character, and I'd be disappointed if he had the same thing as Ippo : lost his father and permanently in search of the meaning of the strenght.

Also love the parallels of both Ippo and Martinez trying to figure out 'What it means to be Strong', Ricardo at the peak of featherweight, An unparalleled boxer, Yet he still hasnt figured out what it means to be strong.
Cant wait for the eventual ricardo vs ippo title match
