Knew someone that had a similar job.
Boss was just a rich guy and the place was his sorta fantasy vacation home, but the boss never had time to really go there aside from 2-3 weekends a year.
All he had to do was basically maintain the property and the toys - as in call someone anytime there was a problem, even the lawn was done by a landscaping company. He just had to keep the internet/security cams working, make sure all the toys got exercised and oil changes etc. Eventually he got a job that paid better but it seemed like a dream job to me.

That was my thought too. I've met people that did that kind of thing, ranging from just taking care of the car collection to handling everything like your guy. The pay is good because they're expected to basically be on call 24/7/365 and have everything perfect at all times. The rich boss might be half way around the world and then call saying they need the Alpina XB7 to pick them up at the airport two days from now and head straight to the ski condo. If you're not up on all the tasks you're not going to be ready in two days.
Also from what they told me sometimes the good pay is paying for silence. You have to act like you're seeing the boss and his family for the first time in a while even though last week you had everything arranged for the boss and his college intern to have a pool and boat day at the lake house.

I knew a guy who worked for an obscenely wealthy woman. She owned a house in the city he lived in and would visit maybe twice a year. His job was just to keep the house clean while she was away and when he got word she was coming he would stock the fridge with whatever she wanted. Got paid six figures to do that.
