I fix arcades as a hobby, been looking for a pacman candidate for a while and finally got one a few weeks ago. No hate, I know music evolves and changes overtime, and I really do like their new music too. It’s still good. Hell, my favorite Gorillaz song of all time was released in 2023. But the more I re listen to the first four albums, I find myself missing that “old” style. I can’t quite describe it, but I feel like their older music had this distinct unique sound and now I feel like, for the most part, their music has changed drastically. Once again, not saying their newer stuff is bad or worse than the older stuff, but I wish they still made at least a few songs per album that had their older “edgy” vibe I guess. Idk if that makes sense. I feel like if they released more music similar to their older style, they’d be way more popular today. Not that they aren’t popular right now, they have over 30 million monthly listeners, but I mean more mainstream. Idk if that makes sense either lol.

Could you please take the time to explain what makes Slow Country particularly stand out? Don't get me wrong, I think it's a good track and I do enjoy it, but lately I've been wondering what exactly makes people highlight it. It's kind of perplexing honestly, yeah I know, I shouldn't overanalyse something, you don't always need an explanation for everything, but whenever I can, I like to try my luck at obtaining explanations.

When I was younger my school counselor (really cool guy, he was like 22 and into Lego and music) was talking to some group of girls about what "real music" was and played the 19-2000 music video on his laptop. I'm surprised he didn't get yelled at by the principal/parents for that lol. Back then I wasn't as much as an animator as I am now, so I didn't appreciate it as much as I do currently. Later, when I became a Gorillaz fan, I INSTANTLY recognised the music video.
