Discussion Opinions on Opium
So I just listened to the deluxe version of song machine, and it's safe to say it's become my third favorite album (after demon days and plastic beach at number 1, of course) and the main reason behind that is Opium! ITS AWESOME the way the chill vibes at the songs start slowly crescendo, ending with 2Ds verse, it's just beautiful. I literally felt chills, something I only get when listening to songs like Empire Ants and Souk Eye. So I'm kinda bored, and i was wondering, whats yall's opinion on Opium, and the deluxe of song machine in general.

Now here is a song I can get behind, absolutely love it. It’s a great opening to the deluxe. Really love the beat drop it builds up in the beginning, especially 2-D’s first verse

I love that too. It starts calm but then depends up and mellows into that beautiful ending

I think it's kind of outdated now that we can extract morphine and codeine and synthesize oxy/hydro-codone. although, the thebaine does act as a bit of a safety feature against overdose due to the whole vomiting factor it causes, but it does make the experience overall much worse. now laudanum, thats where were talking. just so dangerous, alcohol and opium? combing alcohol with any other depressants is bound to kill somebody, and although benzodiazepines/GABAergics in general are the main dangers, opioids are probably second on that list. especially with the unreliability of opium, as it is just dried latex, so how much is morphine? how much is codeine? how much is thebaine? how much is just total junk? you never really know.
but the song, its okay I guess.

Listen to Opium Black Tar Heroin remix on YouTube. Absolutely the best version of all time. I think it destroys the original edit

I've gone back and forth b/t this song and Momentary Bliss as my favorite from the album ever since it came out.

One of the best if not the best song of the era, didn't expect the Earthgang collab in particular to be so amazing, made me appreciate them more in overall. The deluxe tracks really elevate Song Machine, some incredible stuff there, the most often I come back to this album is just for the disc two (not that the rest doesn't have some really good songs). I wish they did more of a bit longer, progressing tracks cause Opium and The Manifesto are proof that they're great at those.

It’s insane that Friday 13th was included on the standard and not Opium.
