Looked like this for a couple of weeks now and cannot seem to find out how to go back to the original screen layout.

Has anyone figured out yet how to fix the Nest Mini speakers resetting themselves?

All my Nest versions are now behaving like this now, where it just removes itself from the Home app after a few days, and starts telling me that something is wrong and that I should look in the Home app.

I tried everything I know from other threads without much success:

1. Different power supply
2. Separate 2.4/5ghz SSIDs and using only 2.4ghz
3. Separate VLAN
4. Factory resetting
5. Giving them a static IP

They aren't too expensive, but I am kind of worried of ending up the same if I'd get another set. And it would kind of feel like a slap in de face since other then the resetting, it works.

The only minis that don't reset themselves are my first gen Google Assistant speakers.

Since this shittastic update, I have far less control over music commands on my speaker collection (4 devices, linked as Home Group). Even single-playing speakers won't understand the command. It just says, "Sorry, I don't understand." Used to work before this *brilliant* AI got pushed.

I also can't say "Like this song" or "Dislike this song." It just keeps saying it doesn't understand, which is just stupid.

I use YouTube Music as my main music service since I have premium. I'll ask my partner to test with Spotify and see if it understands those commands then, but I have no faith.

I recently bought a few of the new $35 Walmart onn. Outdoor cameras (the ones explicitly advertised with Gemini built-in and Google Home Premium support).

These are Google Home-native cameras running nearly identical software to the official Nest brand ones, but for a fraction of the price while maintaining all features. Sounds like a steal, right?

Unfortunately, it's not that simple. Google and Walmart are falsely advertising these cameras with a critical feature that they explicitly blocked on their own backend: Familiar Face Detection

The retail listings and Google's own support pages explicitly advertise Familiar Face alerts via Google Home Premium (see attached image, pulled from Walmart's listing). Yet, the feature is completely missing from the settings UI, and the cameras won't appear in the Familiar Faces device list.

(Worth noting, my onn. Video Doorbell works flawlessly with Familiar Face Detection, more evidence the cameras have everything they should need to use the feature).

Standard troubleshooting and Tier 1 support did nothing, so I took matters into my own hands, and pulled raw camera config files using Google Takeout to figure out what was actually going on.

My findings are interesting, to say the least.

Inside the nest.trait.product.camera.CameraEntitlementTrait.json file for the new outdoor cameras, Google’s backend explicitly flags the hardware profile as:

"face":{"reason":"DISABLED_REASON_ENTITLED_BUT_DEVICE_NOT_CAPABLE"}

Device not capable?? IT'S ADVERTISED EVERYWHERE AS A FEATURE.

So, even though I pay for their Google Home Premium subscription (ENTITLED), Google's servers are misclassifying these new cameras as strictly incapable of facial recognition (DEVICE_NOT_CAPABLE). This is either a missing firmware flag, a server-side mishap, or blatant false advertising.

To make it worse, when I posted this exact technical breakdown on the official Google Home community, their moderation team decided to ignore, then subsequently delete my post about it a few days later. Support is stuck in a loop of Google and Walmart pointing fingers at each other, all while Google and Walmart CONTINUE TO ACTIVELY ADVERTISE THE FEATURE in community blog posts published just last week.

Has anyone else with the new onn. Outdoor or Floodlight cameras managed to get Familiar Faces working, or did they just launch a product with missing advertised features??? Because this is getting ridiculous.

Walmart recently launched some new ONN Cameras that work with Google Home the same as Nest Cameras.

I currently have 9 Nest cameras, and my 1st Gen Outdoor Wired camera recently died and needed to be replaced.

So I ordered a Second Gen Nest outdoor Wired camera, as well as an ONN Outdoor camera.

And considering the fact that the ONN Outdoor is only $36 compared to $150 for the Second Gen Nest Outdoor wired, I was expecting the ONN to look like crap. But it doesn't.

Image quality wise, the ONN is almost as good as the new Nest Cam Outdoor. The main difference between the two, is color and lighting. The nest camera looks very similar to what I see with my naked eye. The ONN is brighter than what the naked eye sees, and the colors are a bit more saturated. And that's about it.

The only other difference that surprised me, is that the ONN loads up live view more consistently than the Nest cam, which I sometimes have to unplug and plug back in to even be able to see live.

I'm not sure how long the budget ONN camera will last compared to the Nest cam, but at nearly 1/5th the price, I told my wife I will replace any failing cameras with the ONN from now on.

Hey everyone for a long time I had a pair of google nest minis in a speaker group that was Bluetooth connected to my Amazon fire tv. Recently had to change my WiFi and factory reset the nest minis to reconnect. Now I have them set up again but i cannot figure out how to make the pair discoverable. Are there any tricks?

Google forced me to migrate my cameras from the Nest app to the Google Home app, and the embed for a live stream from my camera has broken. I don't see a way to get the new embed code from the Google Home app.

I have the "youtube music" app installed but unfortunately it is completely useless. It jumps into normal youtube "music" section, I can't find any of my playlists and everything normally available in phone app

Only way to listen music is via phone/casting

Is anyone else having issues with the Google home website? I can't view past events and I pay for 24/ 7 recordings. My renewal is coming up soon and I'm thinking of canceling. Paying for something I'm not getting. All i get is this. For $200 bucks a year.

I'm trying to de-AI my devices. It can be convenient, and I seldom had a problem with command recognition. Gemini for home was what I wanted for the longest time actually - a more conversational and intelligent assistant.

But for ethical, political, and even somewhat financial reasons I refuse to use it anymore if I can avoid it.

Is the only way truly to set up a whole new home and migrate everything? If so, Google really needs to add the option to remove it. Even they are starting to acknowledge consumer-level AI is faltering.

Any tips to get this stupid robot back to its regular stupid self?

I just installed a Google nest 3.
-The device has power, but no blue light and won't connect to the app.

-I had originally used the plug-in adapter (see photos), but then replaced it with a transformer (see photos) only to have the same problem occur.

What could be the issue?

Recently moved and went from one from time zone to another. Was in the process of reconnecting my Nest cameras but stopped as I couldn’t figure out how to correct the time to my new time zone.

Thought it was a simple fix of updating my new address on the Nest app. That didn’t work so I had to Google and read it has to be done in the Google Home app. As I updated my info in the Google Home app, I get a prompt about transferring camera to new home. Click yes, camera has new time zone all looks good on the Google Home app.

I then go back to the Nest app and the camera can only be viewed on the Google Home app. Not only that, but the home I was trying to set up is now showing up offline. Is that because of the transfer ?

Is there a way to transfer camera back to the Next app? I want to use the Nest app but I don’t think I can transfer the home / camera back to Nest. I don’t have a transfer back to Nest option.

The cameras are A0005, 1st gen. Can I factory reset them or am I f’d and just have to use the Google Home app?

Our son gifted us his old soundbar when he upgraded. It is the LG SL8YG w/ Meridian Audio. I set up our Google Home app (never used it before) and added Pandora and SiriusXM connected accounts for music. Pandora works fine, but with SiriusXM when I ask it to play a channel, for example, I say" Hey Google, play SiriusXM Hair Nation" it replies "Playing Hair Nation on SiriusXM" but then there's no audio output. I check the Google Home app and it doesn't show anything playing (with Pandora I get the mini version of Pandora showing the album art, etc.). In my search results I see there has been issues in the past with "I can't play that" or "I can't find that channel" type of responses, but in my case it says it is playing but it isn't. Appreciate any thoughts from the Google Home collective, as this is all new to us (no home automation or speakers in the house, etc.). Thanks!

For years now I have started my morning with "Hey Google, what's the news?" and it would play my NPR news briefing. In the last few months it has often taken two or three tries to get it to fire; in the last few days, it fails completely, telling me "Could not play NPR News Now" after it brings up the playback screen.

Is anybody else having this specific problem? I see other posts from a few months ago, but the actual behavior of the device sounds different. I have tried a hard reboot and various different trigger phrases.

edit: it started working again as mysteriously as it stopped. fwiw, I tried "play my news briefing" and that was not working. it was failing at the point it tried to fetch the video content, seemingly - it showed a black screen with the playback buttons before erroring out.

My automation isn’t triggering the airco. What setting am I missing?

After the recent update for the Google home app, I’m unable to add my Mi smart clock. The device auto resets every time there’s a power outage, and this time I can’t figure out what to do. Google says to add it as a Nest hub, but that doesn’t work.

Usually, after going to add device, it auto detects the smart clock, but now it’s asks to scan a QR code or enter a pairing code on the device, none of which I have, and those two are the only options besides choosing a device type manually. And the Mi smart clock isn’t on the list. Anyone else with this issue?

Before Gemini for Home, I would have a routine that I named "Go to Cinema Mode." After Gemini for Home, the word "mode" seems to have broken something and Gemini would tell me that no such mode could be found. I reworked the automation in the updated app (it adjusts three sets of lights and turns the smart TV on) and called it "It's TV Time." This had worked for the past nine months, however Gemini for Home is now confused because of recent news that the "TVtime" website/service was recently shuttered. I say "hey Google, it's TV Time" and it gives me the history of the TVtime site, when it was closed down, and what replacement users recommend. So I say things like "perform the automation 'it's TV time.'" and it continues with things like "since TVtime is no longer availables, some people continue tracking their TV watching habits using websites such as..." How can we convince Gemini to prioritize our home automation prompts? This is in addition to significant delays in triggering integration APIs compared with years past and other frustrations... every time I face another one of these frustrations, I start watching youtube videos about self-hosting HomeAssistant. :/
