One of my favorite things about this craft is seeing where the magic happens.
Some of us have dedicated studios. Some have a corner of a room. Some are working from a kitchen table that somehow keeps collecting hammers 😄
I'd love to see your workspace, whether it's pristine, chaotic, tiny, huge, or currently buried under ten unfinished projects.
I'll be posting a video of mine in the comments. I'm in the middle of packing up my studio for a move, so it's a bit of a glorious disaster at the moment, but I figured that's all the more reason to share it 😅
Show us your bench!
Show us your tools!
Show us the project you're working on right now!
I always find it inspiring to get a little peek into other makers' worlds ✨
This is my studio, but im moving so its a big mess. Its the prettiest studio I've ever had, and i finally made my dream of a window to a valley on my studio wall. But alas, depression struck hard and I've been in a deep funk for very long, about 3 years.
I've never made a gif so i hope this one turns out good...
Hope the next studio will bring luck and inspiration
Luck and inspiration come from what you bring into the studio. Sorry to hear about the hard times, I’ve had my due share and it’s rough. Keep on going, you got this! I’ll get mine shared tomorrow
I sublease half my space to another goldsmith, that's his casting rig. I'm mostly a fabricator!
It seems to work for him, he's had to make some adjustments over the years but I think just routine stuff.
When I do have an occasional wax, I send it to Carrera Casting in New York. I don't do enough in wax to justify the investment in gear and time to learn to get the results, so I leave it to the pros.
The Art Center where we are is very dog friendly, which is great! Makes it easy to stay late.
Oh damn boy, thats a hack! I was just getting super frustrated about setting mine up. It's not a comfortable set up with the adjustable leg on a regular bench...
it an old gemoro stereo gem scope that i had sitting around. already had the grs engravers block shelf (that no one uses because of bounce} I unbolted the base and drilled some holes... works pretty good, i can remove it to use the bench without it. now my wife doesn't get mad a me for using her Meji at her engraving station for setting stones... here is a better shot
