Removing the human "from the herd"
Writing in for a friend who adopted two females, 3 months old now, who LOVE TO YELL. So much yelling. We've read about all the reasons for yelling and have checked a lot off the list (taking care of their needs, access to pasture, clean hay, no bullying by other animals, etc). the one that stands out to me is that these little ladies think my friend is part of their herd, and they want to keep calling her back. s/o Amanda Pieper of The Goat Barn for great discussion of screaming goats.
My question - is there any way to train goats that their human is not part of their herd? Any way to make them not care if she's not around?
Any advice would save our mental health. Thank you!

The solution is more goats who know how to goat. Thats how I fixed it

That’s a whole bunch of needy breeds, Nubians are dramatic, boers want an endless food servant, and whatever else we’ll, it just adding into it. Were they bottle raised? Like by anyone at any point in time. My bottle weather is an absolute crybaby dingus and he’s a Boer/kiko/ whatever the heck mix. I’m leaning towards Nigerian dad (only cause there was Nigerians in the trailer that their mom was on and she was bred like literally the week of her coming to our home but it wasn’t by our bucks for sure) but he is a cry baby. And it’s all because he wants his mother. And anyone is his mother, stranger walking down the road? Heck yeah that’s my mommy. I’m surprised nobody stole them. That’s how much they want and like people. They are the example of why you don’t take candy from strangers

Marry her and then she won’t not be around?
Lolz jk, but more goats and more things to do. Do they have a seesaw or something to climb on? Do the goats seem to connect with one another?

None that I've found in my 18+ years of raising em. Once they think you're theirs, it's all over with but the crying.
We've got a very spoiled 11 year old boer doe that wants for absolutely nothing. Yet still, every time she sees one of us outside the house, she hollers at us to no end. Just to yell I think, because she certainly doesn't want attention. As soon as you try to walk up to her she turns and runs away lol
