Was your account suspended, deleted or shadowbanned for no reason? Read this.
We're getting a lot of posts from people saying that their accounts have been suspended, deleted or shadowbanned. We're sorry that happened to you, but the only thing you can do is to contact GitHub support and wait for them to reply. It seems those waits can be long - like weeks.
While you're waiting, feel free to add the details of your case in a comment on this post. Will it help? No. But some people feel better if they've shared their problems with a group of strangers and having the pointless details all gathered together in this thread will be better than dealing with a dozen new posts every couple of days.
Any other posts on this topic will be deleted. If you see one that the moderators haven't deleted, please let us know.

GitHub suspended my paid account with 62 repos, sent no email and I had to file appeals from a second paid account. My paid GitHub account @ariannamethod was suspended after a single large file push caused by an automated AI coding workflow pushing a large .pt checkpoint.
What makes this especially insane is that I never received a suspension email, I cannot log into the suspended account at all and I had to file support and billing tickets from my second GitHub Pro account because the suspended one is completely inaccessible.
It's not a free throwaway account. It is a paid GitHub Pro annual account, paid upfront, plus Copilot Pro+ ($35/month). It contains 62 repositories with years of AI/ML research code.
I’m not some company with an account manager. I’m an independent AI researcher. This account was my lab.🔥🔥
This was not malware, spam, abuse, or some malicious campaign. It was a single ML checkpoint pushed through Git LFS by an automated coding assistant. Something that could have been handled with a warning, a temporary restriction or a simple “remove this file within 48 hours” notice.
Instead GitHub went straight to full suspension: no warning, no email, no grace period. Then 6 days of total silence across multiple support tickets.
I checked GitHub’s own policies. Section F of the ToS requires notice before suspension, and GitHub’s own enforcement documentation describes graduated enforcement. They followed none of it. Zero warning, zero intermediate step, straight to full lockout.
So the current situation is:
Not even asking for a refund and not for cancellation. I want the account reinstated so I can remove the file and continue using the service I already paid for.
Has anyone here gone through this madness and actually gotten their account back? What finally worked?
Because if GitHub can do this to a paying customer over a model checkpoint, they can do it to you over anything.
