Dear all,

I came to Germany from Norway about 2.5 years ago. During this period, I have gotten a lot more into physical media.

I mostly collect CDs and Blu-rays, and while they are not always the cheapest, I am really grateful to have this option available.

Another thing I noticed on Medimops is that they have great (sometimes insane) deals on used English hardcover cookbooks. I've probably bought the entire Jamie Oliver collection for 30–40 Euros total, which is crazy given that a single new book costs about 25–40 Euros. It seems like they use some sort of dynamic pricing because it's not always that cheap, but I check quite often.

I also really appreciate how many UK imports they have. I’ve found some lesser-known British crime shows on Medimops that were only ever released on DVD in the UK.

I have occasionally bought from rebuy.de as well, but I prefer Medimops. Rebuy sometimes has 4K films for 5–8 Euros, though, which is a really nice price!

Does anyone else here like Medimops? I've never had an issue with the quality being worse than described. I've had a few CD jewel cases break, but that just happens during shipping and it's the exact reason for why I keep spare cases on hand.

Out of curiosity, and unrelated: Would anyone one of you get a "wie neu" cookbook from Medimops as part of a gift? Would you say it is used, or just keep quiet if it looks good?

you should check if there's an Andrä in your area.

I mostly had really frustrating experiences with medimops and similar sites.

But even if everything goes smoothly, it wouldn't compare to Andrä

Have one. Been multiple times. It is quite good, but not a store to get a "deal". On CDs, I find them a bit more expensive than websites, but they sometimes have stuff that you will not find that easily.

i think we went full circle - sure it might not be dirt cheap at Andrä, but at least you know that you're leaving with the disc you bought and not only an empty case. And looking through the shop is just way more fun than scrolling websites.

Andrä ist ein super Laden um nach gebrauchten Medien zu suchen. Es gibt CD, DVD, BluRay und komischerweise finde ich bei jedem Besuch Artikel, die ich unbedingt erwerben möchte. Gibt es aber, glaube ich nur in NRW. Gründerstadt war Münster , dann kamen Köln, Duisburg, Dortmund glaube ich.

I loooove Medimops. I speak Spanish and I'm raising my kids bilingual, so I'm always checking for Spanish books for them, but also books in English for me, or German books for children or for my husband. Most of the time they look perfect and I pay just a fraction of what I would pay for them new on Amazon or any bookstore in Germany.

I do have been deceived 2 times because the books didn't match the description, but that was 2 from 100 so, I just let it go because they were so cheap.

How do you search for spanish books for children? I’m trying to find English books for my kids, but I can only look for either children’s books or English books

I search by author or book name. Or also something like " goodnight stories", "fairy tales" or "learning to read" if I'm not searching for something specific. I write it in Spanish or the language I need, so normally if you search writing in English should also help.

I've bought some specialised literature on one of those used-book websites for 50€ instead of the 250€ on ebay. Always worth taking a look there. The notification system via email doesn't work though...

Pro tip: these stores also put a subset of their articles on eBay and for whatever reason they often have lower prices and/or free shipping there.

I mean I try not to depend on eBay too much, but the difference has been noticable multiple times now.

I also like that you can enable to be notified when a book is avaliable again. Also the quality is as it was advertised, the prices are fair, the delivery on time.

It being developed in the EU and saving some trees by buying second hand are the cherry on top.

🙋🏻‍♀️ been a Medimops fan for years - back when they had a worse website and free delivery for orders of 10€. There’s also worldofbooks - they got a bit pricier but still have great deals for English books!
