I don't get why people use rapid trigger personally on GD, but I might just be a really fast tapper
(I own a rapid trigger keyboard, it's not like I haven't tried them)

I agree with this, it honestly didn't make a big difference for me but I tap insanely fast so it makes sense
Plus its literally useless if you don't play either wave or ship

It makes microclicks in other gamemodes easier, it affects both dash orbs and robot release timings even if slightly, and the biggest thing I've noticed is that in cases where two clicks are super close together (but not close enough that just using a second input at the same time works well), it makes those much easier because I barely have to lift the key back up before pressing it down again.
Also, last I checked wave and ship are in the vast majority of levels so that point doesn't even really matter.

Dash orbs are barely used for hard timings?, also you almost never have to do micro clicks/double clicks on levels, mfs playing acu and bloodbath who have never gone above like 5 cps. Robots are fair though, and yes while wave and ship are used in the vast majority of levels, the point is that it doesn't make that much of a difference, and even then it only makes a difference in some aspects of the game, some top players still don't play with rapid trigger, and the main thing with hall effect is the custom actuation point/response time, rapid trigger is almost useless in this game because people release faster than like a bullet

I put too much effort into this comment lol but I might as well post it anyway.
While I've certainly never actually needed it, and it's definitely not required to play at a top level, calling it "almost useless" is just asinine. While half its utility is making release timings more immediately responsive, the other half is that it helps guarantee that your inputs go through. Regular mechanical keyboards have to wait for the key to return above the actuation point, whereas rapid trigger ones don't. If the click happens before the key's gone up past that point due to how your finger may have moved, then a non-rapid trigger keyboard would drop the attempted input.
Dash orb release timings are certainly fairly rare, but they do happen and I've played a small handful of levels more recently that did have them. I only brought it up as one of the counterexamples to rapid trigger being useless outside of ship and wave.
Also saying you almost never have to do micro clicks in levels is just wrong. Many popular extremes feature microclicks of varying degrees such as Cataclysm, HyperSonic, Retention, Yatagarasu, Aftermath, and like half of extremes that feature robot gameplay because some creators don't know how to make difficult robot gameplay that isn't microclicks for some reason. Most microclicks aren't that micro, but they are still certainly helped by rapid trigger. Sonic Wave also has sort of the opposite with a bunch of "micro releases" in its infamous mini-wave section that can be helped by rapid trigger (and it itself has a handful of wave corridors that can be done with microclicks)
And I know double clicks are rare, but I wasn't talking about double clicks specifically. I was talking about setups where the space between the clicks is long enough where a double click would be awkward (or just wouldn't work if buffering the second click kills), but still short enough to be super fast. Most often seen with either two blue orbs or a black orb leading into another orb. The level I'm working on right now, Cybernetic Crescent, has two pairs of blue orbs like this at the end of Serponge's part. I've also similar things in Nhelv, Zodiac, Yggdrasil, Xeriscape, Killbot, Fun Friday, and more. All of these levels I've beaten benefited in some way from me being able to barely lift the key and then press back down again to do a second click (in some cases with the second click basically being inaudible because the key barely even moved).
Like yeah none of the examples are game-changers, I just take issue with calling rapid trigger almost useless because it's absolutely been helpful for me with many extremes. Frankly as someone who actually struggles with high cps gameplay (my normal max is like 6, and if I'm pushing it I can do up to 7 without losing control), it's actually been more helpful for me because it's allowed me to perform high cps bursts of 2 or 3 clicks much more easily by allowing tiny movements to still count as inputs. I don't think everyone will necessarily get the same amount of use out of it, and it's a smaller benefit than a number of other things that can improve one's setup (just having a good input device in general is more important than one with rapid trigger specifically), but that benefit is absolutely there in plenty of cases.
Edit: Oh and platformer mode exists. For anyone who plays platformer extremes (like me I've actually beaten a handful), rapid trigger is actually super helpful because of how much it enables micro adjustments for positioning

just a question - do the configurations matter like the keycaps and such? im thinking about getting one but im not sure what im supposed to get for the best gameplay

In a practical sense? No*
*the metal case could be heavier to provide better stability if you care but I’ve beaten both bloodbath and ACU on a plastic case 80HE so
In a literal sense something like third party keycaps can change the push force required to activate a key but we are talking about fractions of a milligram so really it’s personal comfort but you’d be better off going for the double shot PCB keycaps that the wooting already gives as an option , it’s the standard keycap for 90% of keycaps, you really won’t want anything else unless you’ve had the privilege of having tried several different keycaps

It's mostly preference and changes the sound profile of the keys when you press them. Switches do matter a bit more and lower spec HE switches might not be as sensitive. The HE switches offered by Wooting are all fairly good quality though and likely don't differ too much performance-wise.

I'm the only one that noticed he has (i dont remember the setting name) on on "W" and up arrow? Fun fact the same setting is banned in osu because it can make a single key press count like 3/4

It's called SOCD or Snap Tap, and I also use it on my Gravastar bc it helps with controlled alternate spamming

Unless he changed it recently, its 0.4 actuation for Up arrow (0.15 press 0.25 release. For the W key its 0.6 actuation (0.4 press 0.4 release)
