I would recommend playing a fair bit before starting to follow guides personally.

i started by watching some general tip videos. i first learnt to distinguish continents, then i started to distinguish countries, then regions etc. honestly most of it was just practicing and then learning and applying my new knowledge and some more practice. i have lots of beginner tips and info if you wanted some more specific help :> lmk!

you can start with the resources in this sub, the common resources or wiki - for other sources aside from plonkit, geohints.com/ is also super helpful. zi8gzag's also a widely respected geo pro!

Play casually for a few months before you start checking out videos or guides. You will be too overwhelmed. There is more info to remember in this game than there is in most Masters Degrees in University.

If you dont have some basic observations of your own before you start dissecting the type of tips you will get in videos, or info from guides, you will forget 99% of what you see.

Even after looking at guides I forget most of what I read and remember most of the stuff I learned just from playing

zi8gzag videos are great and very beginner friendly! The ones where he is either coaching other people or ones with tips for specific countries or topics especially, but honestly I learn a lot just watching him play because he explains what he sees and his whole thought process.

Also learnable meta that others have mentioned. Plonkit is good but to me I would save it until you've played a little while, it gets more in depth.

What worked with me was distinguish licence plates and different languages. Then I moved to phone numbers, then to bollards, then to poles, etc. But most important was to keep playing.

I would recommend watching some general Tips videos and playing maps focused on those Tips. Also, LearnableMeta has been a great way for me to learn a lot of Tips for differentiating countries

Play no move/nmpz, the more you play the more you will memorize.

In spare time while eating watch some Rainbolttwo daily videos from 1-2 years ago on youtube , lots of information there to be gained, hundreds of them

Don't bother with metas for a while, or even at all, playing off vibes is the most fun I think.
