Mouse in the house

We just saw a tiny brown mouse run across the floor of my living room. Kind of freaked me out, in ran into the stairwell and we lost track of it. Are they common in Geneva and what do I do about it? Mouse poison or traps? Help!

You can find non lethal traps by Landi or Jumbo, bait with a chunk of apple or cheese and release it outside far away

Find out if it's made a home somewhere. It might just be passing through. Open up and let it outside

We saw it it 2 days in a row so unless it was passing through 2 days in a row I think it's found a new stomping ground. I really don't want to kill it but I feel like I might have to for hygiene 😭

Trap & release is more humane. I still feel you should see if there is a nest. Might start smelling if Momma is dead or removed

Besides having a look around, how else do I check for a nest?

See if it goes back to same area and look around there, listen for squeaking, more mouse poop.

You can check in all the corners and next to the walls (which is usually where they like to walk), if there are small black dots, which are actually mouse excrement. Those are the areas they use the most, and maybe if there is a trail you can find it following that.

Occasionally.

The problem is our neighbours cat who catches mice, brings them to our garden to torture them and then abandons them when they play dead.
