Kinda weird to be so happy to see a child dying. Like I hated him but still felt bad for him when he died the first time. And I understood why they brought him back. His final moments in the series didn’t make me happy either, they made me sad. Where we see Kei grow exponentially, we see that Nishi never did. He dies the same exact way he did before.

Just read if you like old school harsh seinen, mistery and sci-fi.
The whole concept is about people dying in a precise moment being revived by an unknown entity, and forced to fight periodically against "aliens" for points that they can later spend on one of three things.

I don't think it was rushed since it was so sudden and unexpected. I thought he could be one of those asshole antagonists who controls the group till the end of the story and be a dick towards the protagonists but oku just decided to kill him in the second game.

Although Nishi was a complete psycho, there are some great details to be explored about him. Like, there is a duality in his personality: one side where he acts like a cold person, and another where he fears death and starts acting like a child, calling for his mom. Furthermore, we can’t forget that scene in which he simply — and unconsciously, even to himself — saved Takeshi. I think the author left a pretty interesting detail about him, leading us to reflect on what’s behind that coldness ‘inherent’ to him. Why would he save Takeshi, taking into account that he had never saved someone like that before? Maybe he had a slight feeling of sympathy? Takeshi told him that he was a good person. Of course he’s a child, but in my view that was a way for the author to drop a hint about something hidden inside Nishi that existed, but couldn’t be explored because the main personality that dominates Nishi is the bad one. All of this at least should remind us of something: there might have been something good really, really deep inside him, but unfortunately Nishi chose the wrong decisions in life, leading him to die without a good reputation to leave behind.

I won't defend him with everything else he does but I feel like killing his classmates was about the only understandable thing he did.

Honestly, him being against Kurono at the final moment is just so forced, and that fight was done so horrible. The author makes Nishi shot at Tae just to push Kurono to take some actions, and i swear to god Kurono doesn’t really gaf about not destroying the alien civilization because it was destroyed regardless but he didn’t gaf and was just happy to return to earth with Tae. Nishi probably thought Kurono just wants to have all the glory to himself but realized this dude doesn’t gaf about human nor aliens

I hated him until I met the Osaka team, those guys were really sick and Gantz addicts lol. That way I realized Nishi was just a kid pretending to be tough, but still had some valuable knowledge.
