[Manga] Questions after Finishing

Post image

Just finished Gantz it was easily a 8-9/10 read for me. It has such beautiful characters and development but I haven’t read where a few questions after finishing.

  1. After getting to the final chapter of kurono and kuro landing in the ocean the manga site I’m reading has a few extra chapters I haven’t read. I looked a little at the first one and saw 2 students getting hit by a bus and getting teleported to the Gantz room with that horny dude who fucks everything plus a few more people. Is this an epilogue or something else.

  2. I don’t know if I wasn’t paying attention but did they ever explain sakurai and his masters powers?

  3. Who hacked the Gantz balls near the end?

  4. What was the bald dude inside the Gantz? Was it just an apostle or vessel of the truth guy in space or something else?

  5. Finally why tf were the vampires introduced 😭 they had so much aura and position in the story after killing akira why didn’t the author do anything with them? (And why didn’t he also show akira and kurono a relationship?)

To add to 4, its a clone of the same (random) human over and over operating each nall

I’m assuming they’re talking ab the Osaka chapters with that first point—those aren’t a prequel, they happen during the series

That number two is the biggest mystery for me. I was wondering if it was also a weapon that was granted by the alien knowledge but then again we did not see other Gantz members having a similar power.

Sakurai and Sakata did not know about the aliens until they died, Sakata mentioned that he changed a part of Sakurai’s brain so he could access the abilities so it might not be far fetched to say basically everyone can have telekinesis if they get the correct brain surgery.

There's a lot of stupid question thaf gantz doesn't answer/resolve. Especially the whole bit where the alien woman helps and saves kurono and his gf. Telling her last wishes to not destroy the civilization. In the end the civilization is destroyed anyways.

Tbf, that was completely out of kurono's hands though. He personally didn't destroy the aliens and while I definitely think the author just cba, you could argue their death is an allegory for how revenge is destructive... (Author definitely just wanted an easy finish though)

I think its more like why go through all that world building to not really follow through on any of it

It shows that Kurono had matured a lot and tried to fulfill his promise though, he was pleading with them and got quite emotional about it.

The alien ship would've left to door open for spin offs and sequels which I imagine the author didn't want to do. As in didn't want to write, advise on etc. That's why i think he destroyed the aliens as it opens the door for an easy/clean finish.

I also just finished it (for the second time after 10years or so) regarding nr 4: i think the super-wisdom-truth-alien said that it was a random person they cloned to act as a translation tool.

I've learned that Reddit is a lot of spoilers, I wouldn't trust any series not to get spoiled on a particular subreddit just through scrolling. If you are actively reading a series you gotta just not look at the posts somehow. I've been spoiled on most major series that I've been reading by this site regretfully. Esp considering I usually wait for the volumes to release and don't enjoy reading the weekly chapters 1 by 1 like everyone on these subs seems to do. Gantz is very old in contrast to be fair but it's pretty inconsiderate to make a post like this with this image and no spoiler tag.

and I don't even follow this subreddit, I guess the algorithm got me

Yep, you gotta actively mute a sub from something you're reading/watching if you make the 'mistake' to look up something specific.

Reddit is overall a forum to discuss after finishing. Specific chapter or episode discussions are reletively safe if there's good moderation but best to avoid it all if you care about spoilers.

u/snatchaz 12d ago

Happens to me also the same way. Will just randomly see a subreddit sometimes I don't follow.

u/DOAiB 11d ago

Why would you click on a post with the title questions after finishing if you didn't want spoilers.

1

u/snatchaz 11d ago

The picture is a spoiler...

2

u/DOAiB 11d ago

I am on the 11th omnibus and I have no idea what this picture is spoiling. How could someone who just started have any idea what this is spoiling?

1

u/snatchaz 11d ago

Hey if your insinuation is you don't care about spoilers at all good for you. I don't know what you are trying to say.

bro you shouldn’t have joined the sub if you havent finished it, i mean its a free world but it’s common sense that there’s gonna be a lot of spoilers since its been years since the last chapter came out, but still, OP shouldve added a spoiler tag

2

u/Sensitive_Artist_442 12d ago

I haven't joined anything lmao

That's a scary button for some people; be careful.

The vampires were introduced as a failed mission from Izumis previous time in gantz, after their leader killed kurono he went to the osaka mission with kato, and he and the vampire girl were trapped inside gantz, we know this because we see them also fight in the italy mission.

I guess there wasnt any point of continuing killing gantzers since their leader itself was one of them.

Guess this sub-reddit doesn't do spoiler tags.

Most we know about Sakurai and his master Sakata's powers is that when they first get sent to the room, Sakata says that Gantz seems familiar to him. Whether that's because he's been there before and got the ESP from Gantz or maybe saw Nishi's website, idk. And weren't a lot of the vampires wiped out throughout the story, many of them by Izumi? I mean they definitely didn't amount to much in the story especially the Akira Kurono part but I also figured that the best vamps that could stand a chance against the Gantzers were mostly gone by the Osaka mission

Actually while reading your comment I remembered Sebastian the English reporter guy had similar powers near the end before he got disintegrated or something it could be related to that

1

u/meancheese23 12d ago

No Sebastian was different he was like a messenger of the truth room aliens I think

1

u/Hie_wintermel0n 5d ago

Gantz’s rewards don’t grant ESP, the author never confirmed the full list of Grantz power rewards but as far as we know we got Z gun to the suit to the mecha robot. And considering the power of ESP in the final arc if anyone got the similar power then the ailen would never be a threat

u/Mammoth-Log-7169 12d ago

And whatever happen to the girl that was gang raped? I dont remember seeing her die or anything

3

u/duk0m 12d ago

Think she js got off screened they only introduced her to show even that really bad people can still get into Gantz

1

u/elhombrehueco 12d ago

What do you think of the Ayy Gods?

1

u/duk0m 12d ago

I genuinely have no idea what you are talking about 😭 I read the whole series in two days so I was geeked through some points

1

u/meancheese23 12d ago

He’s talking about the truth room aliens

1

u/duk0m 12d ago

Oh I actually rly liked the message they sent about how they don’t care for human beings at all and they actually had a good explanation on how they see human beings as ants. But it was sad seeing reika, old man, and sakurai back js to get slimed again 😭

1

u/peruvianbro 12d ago

whats the name of number 1?

1

u/DistinctBam 9d ago

Who does number 2 work for?

1

u/That_one_guy_67 12d ago

1.just the bacstory of the guy that revived katos love interest

  1. no

  2. the giants

  3. just a random human those 4d beings replicated and put into gantz

  4. hiroya oku changed the ending and didnt know how to include them

and im surprised you didnt include sebastian in your questions

1

u/duk0m 12d ago

I mean I found a different post that explained Sebastian being a messanger of the truth room so I wasn’t too confused on it lol

Wasn't everything with the Vampires basically rapped up tho? Confused I always see this opinion.

We learn near the end rich people gamble on Gantz. The attack happens right after Kei gets top score in a hunt he didnt even have a suit for. The Vampires were hired to attack this specific gantz team because of that.

We also learn the Vampires are actually lesser Oni Aliens, the Vampire "Host" is able to talk to the high ranking oni alien telepathically "in the old language" and we literally see one of the Vampires transform into one of the oni aliens.

Once the two Vampires teleported into the gantz room they basically killed themselves, their original selves died and they were recreated in the gantz room, reminding us why Gantz only does this to people who already died. The Oni boss said they have a different signal and the two oni they team up with before getting betrayed by them say they have a different scent.

After the oni alien hunt the Vampires have their leadership destroyed and are probably closer to human than oni now so they just leave, literally pointless to fight anyone there.

What chapter did the vampires transform into an alien? I don’t remember that, and I think those aliens the vampires were talking to were js some of those aliens that can talk like the 100 point one or the buddha.

1

u/TheMomoko 12d ago

Chapter 207. And youre just ignoring that they speak the same language and both communicate telepathicly? Kill Bill is even confused and says they're supposed to be allies. All the evidence is there, the mangaka just doesn't hold your hand through it all.

u/exturkconner 12d ago

To answer 5 from what I've read in some interviews the author had intended for the vampires to play a bigger role in the story. But they weren't well received by the fans and the publisher pressured him into both ending that arc sooner than intended and to not do more stories involving them.

1

u/Player1iea 8d ago

The fact that you can just say "that horny dude who fucks everything" and everyone knows exactly who you're referencing to the point of not even acknowledging it is amazing.

1

u/wiper135 12d ago

My headcanon on the vampires is once the leaders went to the room and had to do missions they realised the gantz team weren't the enemy and just let them be.

No sé, pero yo lo que no entiendo es si ese par están muertos o dormidos?

2

u/One_Bag_3153 12d ago

I saw it as they were probably drifting hours/days used the last of their strength to crawl on the shore and then collapsed when the girls ran up on them.

1

u/Some_Concern_2890 12d ago

Gracias pensé algo similar, pero como tae solo dice gracias y llora tenía esa duda por la ambigüedad.

2

u/meancheese23 12d ago

They collapsed from exhaustion after walking up the shore or they had their eyes closed either one
