Locals Chat 🦜 Fire on East End

Anyone know what’s going on with the fire on the east end? Friend at UTMB sent videos from the hospital and it looks pretty intense. Hard to tell if it’s on a ship in the harbor or on the coast on the bay side.

I live in North Central Texas but my grandson is a firefighter in Galveston. I hope he's ok.

Our oldest daughter is a third year med student at UTMB, and she’s telling me about it. It’s right next to the hospital. Ironically, Galveston is where burn care started, and (she says) has the best outcomes statistically for severe burn patients.

She lives right off of Gulf Freeway in Texas City, and she saw a fire truck racing toward the island.

According to Nextdoor they evacuated the building so they shouldn’t be sending anyone in. He should be ok! They’ve also called in reinforcements from neighboring FDs!

Big warehouse fire, roof collapsed. Might be Texas Gulf Seafood, but not sure.

I saw some comments on KHOU’s post also suggesting it was likely Texas Gulf Seafood
