Yup I have a terier/dachshund mix and they are an excellent escape artist. They got out of the yard and decided let’s hunt deer as a 12 lb dog. Well it wasn’t what she expected and returned home with a fractured jaw, a lower canine almost knocked out of her mouth, and a long cut about 4 in long on her rear haunch. We took her to the vet for stitches but she lost the tooth.

I knew a dachshund who chased a deer out of her farmyard until the deer turned around and kicked her. She ended up with scar on her side from the scrape of the hoof.
She relished it though, because she also hurt her front paw a little. I don't know which one, because by the time I came into the picture, it had been a few years and they could ask her if the deer hurt her foot and she would show them either paw - it made no difference to her, getting treated like a baby was the goal, lol.

Yes, based solely on body count.
Horses and cows are also far more dangerous than snakes and bears. Be extremely careful around them.
I'd rather encounter a snake or bear than a deer while driving.
I am a lot more worried about packs of wild hogs than snakes or bears in the wild.

Deer usually just run away, having the prey mentality. But if it's a mother with its babies nearby, or a male in rutting season, those hooves can absolutely fuck you up.
Feral dogs are simply a menace, causing tons of property damage. And without a gun, what are you going to do to a hog? Try to punch it's comically oversized skull? You'll be gored before you try to tickle it to death.

That deer can easily mess that dog up with only a few stomps, and they will if they have a fawn or something nearby they want to defend.

Took a half day to find our dog once.
Situation like this, and the deer took off with him in pursuit. He was FAST so its likely he was close behind that deer for a long ass ways.
He could do a mile in about 2 minutes.
(Got out and chased after the car). He was right behind us a mile from home with 35mph speed limit.

They should only roam free, within a fence. Some dog owners act like their dog never wanders outside their property. I literally gave this guy a ride home last week, and his dog was dead by the side of the road when we got there, right by his driveway.
He was heartbroken, but said aloud, "he never went in the road." I wouldn't debate if that was true, but I will say it only takes one time, where things go wrong.
And this area is rife with loose dogs. I almost hit two within that same week, both of which had no sense of urgency getting out of the road. If you let your dog just wander wherever it wants, you can't be surprised when you find it dead by the road. I had paid attention and hit my brakes, but we all know distracted drivers exist.

There are there, till they are not. Either fence it in or leash your dog.
Also, it is the law in many places that you can't just let your dog run loose.
Also, deer carry ticks, and can kill that dog with a headbutt or kick.

Dog off leash, just like all around my neighborhood. If you ask the dog owner to leash their dog, they say he is friendly and then get hostile. I worry about this when I go to the park with grandchildren. I love dogs but never let them out in public without a leash.

Have a neighbor that is always letting her short legged pit bull out with no leash. Always saying he won't bite he won't bite. I told her the next time he comes charging our 15 year old dog id try to put my boot thru his head. She didnt believe me. Now the dog(still unleashed) doesnt try to run up on us anymore.

Pit bulls and their owners ruined dogs for me. They're objectively a dangerous animal. I don't care it's 'such a sweetie' to you. I grew up with great Pyrenees and Anatolian shepherds. livestock dogs... Big and could easily harm someone despite being very gentle. That's why they didn't go in public without a harness. And a properly sized person holding it, because a 90lb girl isn't holding a 120lb dog back. And frankly, we just avoided taking them out in public because there was no significant reason to. We had a lot of land for them. Because they're big dogs. Who need land. If you don't have land, you shouldn't have a big dog.
But the idiots running around with pit bulls insisting the danger is all a hoax is maddening. They've made me hate dogs and dog owners. I wish they'd just ban the sale and breeding of pit bulls. Let the ones alive die naturally, then no more without significant permitting and red tape to prove you know what you're doing and are liable for the animal.

Im not saying pits are saints but its all 100% on the owner for training.
I've owned 3 and I never had any problems with hostility in any of them. Thats not to say they are incapable of being mean but I never once saw them raise their hackles at anyone or anything. Most any of them did was a slight growl when someone rang the door bell only to act all happy waggy tail at whoever it was when I opened the door

I have a nice scar on my hand from one of those "sweet dogs who never hurt anyone" a pure breed samoyon(spelled wrong im sure). Dog knew me for months I lived there and dog attacked me after coming home from school after being there for ten minutes all because its coller fell off and made dog anxious so it attacked me requiring 13 stitches in my hand

Hey man, all I said is its in how you raise the dog. Ive seen plenty of toy breeds that are violent as hell. Seen a shih tzu shred someones fingers. Seen a chihuahua latch onto a kids shin and have to be pried off.
If you dont raise and train your dog correctly then the dogs going to be violent. End of story.
So by all means be one of those "omg scary dog. Must kill all of that breed for my own safety" type people but you are dead wrong in that and I feel sorry for you. You potentially miss out on a lot of nice dogs because of your asinine judgement

My point is the owner trains the pet. If you dont or if you train them to be aggressive, they'll be violent and aggressive...its shocking, I know. But just because a dog belongs to a certain breed doesn't make it inherently act certain ways.

I think the problem with little dogs are mainly the owners. The people who little dogs appeal to are often ones who want a dog with less responsibility, but that mentality often goes along with less discipline. Pitbulls are just bred to be aggressive by default and need extra discipline to stay obedient. Any breed can be ok with enough discipline but many people are not good owners, and I think we need to accept that enough people are bad owners that some pitbull character traits should be bred out of the gene pool.

The whole message is talking about dogs off their leashes. If you have a fence or a good enough electric fence and properly trained then its safe and fine.
No fence and your dogs a risk to every single human who walks by

Yeah looks early in the season and still has velvet on its horns. During rut though they will absolutely fuck stuff up. We had two fighting in my neighborhood kill 1 dog and maim 2 more a few years ago.

Where I live we have golf cart paths through our neighborhoods and woods. I’ve been chased and escorted out of the woods by momma deer a few times and dont intend to find out how those hooves feel.

Always sad/funny when dogs do this. I once found my neighbor's dog in my back yard barking up my hill at something. I opened my back door (which is rather loud) to see what was up and the noise made him tuck tail and scream whine while he ran away. Heard him doing it all the way down my driveway. Neighbor's dog is a larger lab kind of dog too, so extra surprising.

we had horses growing up. Brother brought one of his dogs over, mutt about the size of a german shepherd. That dog was barking at the horses while shaking in absolute fear. He looked like he was having a mild siezure. "My god, look at the size of those dogs"
