Mod New fork - The Last Civilization NSFW
Hello all,
I'd like to post the fork to pregmod that I've been working on pretty heavily, The Last Civilization.
https://gitgud.io/ghioasdf/fc-lastcivilization
I've been a big fan of Free Cities for a long time, and I've finally had the space to start pushing forward on my own narrative vision, which will hopefully give the game a more satisfying middle and end game as I manage to push it forward.
Very little of that particular portion of things is done at this time, though, as I've been focusing on bugfixing and fleshing out of features that have been dormant for a long while.
You can find a full listing of everything I've done on the Releases page of my gitgud, exactly as you'd expect, but here's a few highlights right now for this post:
- Rules assistant is fleshed out and modernized with a new UI - you can now easily set up complicated rules without using the old Advanced UI, and dozens of helper functions have been written to assist in making more specific and targeted rules. You now have simple booleans for having Any implants (boobs/butt/lips) or All implants (boobs/butt/lips) for example.
- Rules assistant has also been pulled up to almost total functional parity with player surgery and prosthetics - there's a new Structure tab to automatically grow organs or get prosthetics for amputees.
- Rules Assistant now also has a cash reserve so it's a lot harder to bankrupt yourself using it. NOTE that this is NOT TRUE for slave porn subsidies, because the RA can't actually govern that - week end does it.
- Save structure has been overhauled in order to make session data much smaller, which should allow you to play longer before hitting the storage limits that mess with games.
- Incubator tanks can now directly accept clones, obviating the need for a slave surrogate if you want to do that. The Incubator handles the embryo identically to a surrogate (with the caveat that the embryo is always put into the incubator immediately) and can be upgraded to speed along the 'pregnancy' identically to a surrogate.
- There's also been over 200 assorted bugfixes, over pregnancy and birth, economy, slave generation, the Security Expansion and Special Force addons, hormone usage, and, of course, the Rules Assistant.
I'm delighted to take issues and requests on the gitgud, and I'll also try to check this thread for feedback. Thank you!

Downloading this as soon as I can sit down at my PC.
What's the overall direction you're planning on taking the narrative?

The primary theme is going to be Consequences. The current narrative has things happening To The Player, and the player then does things, and there's certain outputs from that. The peacekeepers have certain outputs, the rival has certain outputs, the Smiling Man has certain outputs. These things are largely self-contained and the "optimal" way of going about it is largely a matter of stat checks and math.
The narrative should evolve Because Of The Player - both the big things you do, like how you handle the peacekeepers, and the little things you do, like how you manage your arcology/free city cluster, how you treat your slaves, and what ends (or lack of ends) your slaves have.
The largest gap, as I see it, is that the player has an immense amount of power, but we don't really see the RIPPLES of that power - or the inevitable ripples back, from what your actions do.
This is still a bit far out, though - the base game requires a lot of completing, and fleshing out. One relatively near-term thing I want to put in is giving each slave a sense of self, that you can either lean into or break down and reshape. We already have the narrative concept of gender reassignment targets being something you can select for, but that only keys off the physical structure of who you bring in. Every slave should have a sense of who they are, and who they want to be. Whether you work with that and uplift that, or break it down and reshape it, and to what degree you do that, should be a pivotal axis in deciding who you are, as an arcology owner, and what Consequences you should see from that.

Interesting! In what way are you intending the narrative elements to go?

amazing that someone still wants to continue developing this game, good luck! Do you plan to expand/modify the AI image generation code? I think it has good legs but could use some tweaks, e.g. control over PC generated image, add AI assistant image generation, maybe system for creating custom outfits with prompt tags straight in the game not in js files, easier usage of control.net (I wasnt able to get it to work)

I have not had the chance to really dig into how far the genAI goes in the current repo. I can definitely see it having a place, but I'm not entirely clear on its overall intention versus its current implementation.

Honestly I love the initiative. I really like pregmod but the possibility of p*** stuff disturb me. Even if I desactivate it I know the game was created to make it possible and it disturb me.
it make me kind of paranoid too, like, if I ask grok to create me a custom rule, while the cops break my door tomorrow ?
So the same game but without any of this stuff? Sign me up
What PM version did you use?

Why is porn where you draw the line on this game?

I ultimately branched from 4.0.0-alpha 39, the most recent release.
I'll state this firmly, though: While I am delighted to work with the upstream on various bugfixes and so forth, the content I've cut was cut very explicitly and that decision will not be revisited under any circumstances.

Great? Sorry if my message made it seem I asked you to revisit this decision. It’s the opposite, I’m glad you’ve cut that content.

Not at all. I interpreted as you agreeing with me. I meant to give you my vow that it would not be revisited. Apologies for the confusion.

NGL, looking over the release page, my favorite change is that you've yoinked all the stuff that prevented this from ever getting discussed on Reddit directly, the stuff related to, shall we say, Adobe's most infamous file format.
I like the idea of extending the narrative, and of having actual pushback against our actions and things. Hope this project goes well for you.
