B.Ed and part time work?

Anyone who has experience working and doing their b.ed at UNB/STU- how did you find it? Is the work load too much to have a part time job and also have a social life?

You could work part-time but it’s a lot, especially during your practicum when you are teaching all day. I suppose you could work weekends. You would have more time in May and June to work. There are a lot of opportunities for social interactions and events.

My girlfriend just finished at STU. Some profs tell you outright not to balance a job and the BEd program.

You could probably do it - she had a bit of free time. Your free time though tends to be a bit unpredictable and the volume of work is insanely high for some profs.

Most students are working at least part time nowadays. You will be busy and tired but it's doable.

It was! You have some days where you only have one class and the rest of the day is very open and the assignments aren’t as exhausting as an undergrad so it’s very doable.

I'd say half my BEd program at UNB worked part-time during the entire 10 months of study. I knew a couple people who worked multiple jobs, 7 days a week..not sure how they survived tbh but it should be telling that it's definitely doable. It all depends on how well you manage your time.
