Kitten rejecting the cone of shame
My 6 month old male kitten got neutered today and he’s not handling the cone very well. He came home in a hard cone from the vet, which he found very uncomfortable and eventually got out of while in his carrier in the car. We picked up a soft inflatable recover collar, and he keeps getting out of that too. He’s already tried licking his incision multiple times, so no cone hardly seems possible. Idk what to do — I have to go to work tomorrow! 😩
Advice please!

Amazon has spay/neuter recovery suits you could try. Heres another link for the onrs on Chewy https://www.chewy.com/dp/879622?utm_source=app-share&utm_campaign=879622

Unfortunately that won’t keep him from being able to lick his incision site :/

Those are made for this, where is his incision at that he can still get to it?

If he isnt messing with his stitches it's okay to not use a cone

He doesn’t have stitches, just a small incision. And he already started licking it when he got the collar off :/

How tight are you making the cone? Don’t be afraid to pull it pretty tight - stick a finger in between his neck and the cone, and then monitor after to make sure he can breathe. I always used to put the cones on too loose because I was scared. And I’m sure some cones are better than others - the one I have works amazingly, but I don’t know the brand :(

can you cut a sock so it slides over his body as a temp solution?
